This is connected to my earlier post.Short story : I have a demand for overdue arrears in my loan.I owe £465. Being threatened with court action. Now I am with Provident Personal Credit which is a home collected company. A while ago I applied for a small amount of £500 with a weekly payment of £15.With my arrears in my bank loan I applied for their maximum of £2,500 but was declined. My agent Lisa (whos very nice and undersatnding) said I need to be with Provident at least a year to quallify for that amount.Fair enough. Anyway, I recently applied online at their website on there "existing customers" page for a £200 loan (to cover rent) which was provissionally accepted and Lisa text me to say it had been approved and she bought it round on the regular day I pay her.

Now with my impending demand date looming of £465 coming up.I applied again on the website for £500.Again provissionally accepted.Just waiting to hear and Im pretty hopefull.I have got round there system of applying for small amounts as and when I need it.From £15 I should now b paying £30 a week.

Not an ideal situation to be in but it stops court action and having to pay the net amount of £3,901 which I would have had to do.I work in a hotel and get good tip money and that has been paying Provident. They are a good company and freindly.I would reccommend them to anyone. You can even become an agent and work for them.My stress has gone down and hopefully through the CAB I can reduce my monthly loan repayments!!All in all after a stressfull day it has calmed down. :)

What APR are these "Povident" loans. Aren't these the ones with 170% to 500% . Seems like you will struggle as you could not even afford your rent

    Aren't provident loans extortionate credit...

    Are these the ones.

They are but and I am back on track. As I said I make good tip money and my pay is ok.Its just that I seperated from my wife last year and that caused the problems. I can afford my rent as I dont pay c.tax, water rates or electric. I was also victim of fraud last month and that didnt help.Anyway despite what you may think they are one of the better ones. They say that bank charges are more expensive than the interest on their loans which is true. Dont get me wrong it is tight for me but this way it just eases it a bit. I negiociaited with my bank for a lower monthly repayment on my loan too

My only advice is : NEVER GET MARRIED!

Please get hold of your local credit union, who will loan you the money at 11-26% rather than 400%
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

I would phone the CAB nad get one of thier debt advisors to help ytou.

Its my understanding you could have gone to court and offered to pay an amount you CAN afford to the lender.

Getting a debt from one lender to pay off another lender - and at extortianate rate of interest -is never going to be approved of by moneysavers
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

My mate had Provi....... , very costly in interest....... , I know some have tried to get credit elsewhere first, but are turned away which they were left with this option only, as they needed the money immediately, but they do sting (OUCH)......

    I am a caseworker for a forces/ex forces charity.

When we assist people to go bankrupt, in almost every case, it is companies charging exhorbitant 400% type loans that have started people on the slippery slope of unmanageable debt.

If I were you, I would have a serious chat with a debt councillor in the CAB before committing yourself to any more of these type of loans.
Nothing is foolproof, as fools are so ingenious! :D
