You can also credit the account by making a bank payment giving your Tesco account number and sort code. I did that and my account was credited the following day so they must use the faster payments service.

I have never been able to top up with a debit card at customer services though.

Me neither, which is why I posted- can't be bothered (sorry!) to quote who said it in the first place but someone here mentioned it so I thought it would be a good idea to correct it as others were also taking it as truth.

I'll give this one a miss because it involves credit use and search. I wouldn't be using that credit so I'd be wasting it.
Order of events: Banks lose our money -> get bailed out -> were inflating GBP to cover it -> now taxing us -> next will grab your funds direct -> things get really desperate to balance the books. What should have happened?: banks go bust and we lost our money much quicker

Well if its any help, I have poor credit- its due to being a student, a health breakdown and losing my job in the cutbacks of the recession last year.
I was not given a credit facility, but that to me does not matter as I wouldn't have used it anyway. But I can still load up the card and pay for my shopping with it- and still get double clubcard points :D just over 2100 points now- would normally be around 1050 without using the clubcard plus feature.

That's interesting mof77 - thankyou, but we Inveterates can see one or two downgrades, or maybe it's a matter of interpretation.
Looked for the wine double-up feature last week, but banner said 'sorry-discontinued'.
Shall look and see if it's back.
Also, voucher life seems to be reduced to 3 months, rather than 6.
Shall scrutinise further, and closely, and return...........:D

Certainly Mr T has lost a lot of my loyalty with the disappearance of worthwhile points deals, although the 250 points ink one is not bad.Need to buy more today too, with a £3 off tillspit, should be decent.
Poundland sugar @ £1 for 1.5 kg and market limes12-17 per £1 scoop et al[made fuel feasible thanks to Bus Pass]are sensible changes.

Hello again moff77 - just had another look at this, from your linky, referring to the 3-months' duration new double-up vouchers:

    'And for a limited time*:

Wine and Champagne - includes wine, Champagne and fortified wine (purchase either in-store or on Wine by the case at www.tesco.com/wine).'
    ##########
-and am pasting this from my CC+a/c CC Deals pages today:
    h1.howcanispendclubcardvouchers.jpg
    • It is no longer possible to exchange your Clubcard Vouchers for Double Up - Wine Club Tokens.<H1>
    #############
No dates are given in the Press Release, I note - with next Voucher mailing perhaps? which is due in next fortnight, I'm told.

Crikey, what a palarrrrrva I just went through to apply for the CC+!

First, I phoned the 0800 number that someone posted on page 1 (from 'saynoto0870'), but I needed to enter a 'Customer Number' on my phone. I don't think I've got such a thing, so I phoned an 0800 'Customer Service' number from 'saynoto0870' and the nice Scottish lady said, "I don't know what you're talking about" :rotfl: and gave me a Clubcard number . I didn't mind too much at this point, since it was also an 0800 number. A funny, laid-back (or couldn't give a monkey's, one or the other) Welshman said he'd heard of it but couldn't help me, and gave me an 0845 number.. Some 'couldn't care less' woman had no clue what I was talking about and gave me another number.. (getting a bit annoyed now).. and simply said, 'I don't know' when I asked how I could get a 'customer number' if I needed to enter it on the phone.. :wall:That was an 0845 number too, so I used the one on page 1 first and got what I was after straight away!! :rotfl: (0845 7104010 think it was)

I now await my application form :j

Thanks for reading. I feel better now :D

Wow- think they need to update the 0870 site a bit more- I had a similar issue when using a number from their site to call LG, the calls would all go through, then get cut off one by one just when I was halfway through the automated system saying "I am sorry, your time is now over" first thought through my head was "am I about to pop-my-cloggs or something?!!"

Anyway, for anyone else trying to avoid the 0845 number, you could try going to your tescos store and ask if they can put you through to their finance department.

Or if your with Talktalk, wait until the 6th of June when if your on the new tarrif, the 0870/0845 numbers are free or use a BT phone.

I always start any mr T phone biz via 0800-505555, or 0800-591688 for Clubcard and ask straight off to be t/fr'd to TPF for CC+ matters.
If given any 0845 no., I simply say, 'this 'phone doesn't use 0845 or 0870 no's. I'd be grateful if you could tfr me'.
9 times out of 10, they do.
