Downloaded and a valid key. :)

Question is, do I try it on this lappy?

I have a current dual boot between Vista and Linux (Mandriva), and mostly use Linux.

Was wondering if anyone had tried an upgrade from Vista. Dod it work/break/crash whatever?

  • If you're going to do anything with it then do a clean installation rather than an upgrade.

If you've got everything backed up and you enjoy troubleshooting then go for it.

If I didn't enjoy trouble shooting, then I wouldn't have installed Linux. ;)

I can back everything up. Just got a nice 1 TB external HD.

Just wondered if anyone else had tried.

I'm tempted to try the "upgrade" to see how it goes. If that is 'pants' then I could install from scratch.

It's not logical considering that I can back up, but Windows 'beta' just makes me nervous. :o

    It ROCKS.

SRSLY - I've never had an OS impress me this much.

Takes about 30 mins to back everything up and install - what's stopping you?

    See post above. ;)

I've been trying it in Virtualbox and seems good so far.

    I will say this.

If I try to run Vista on a VM on this laptop, then it struggles to cope. Windows 7 doesn't. Certainly seems to be less boated and resource hungry.

I am duel booting Vista and Windows 7 and no problems at all, so far!

I just downloaded it, and loaded it via a virtual drive and it did not take long to install.

Like some have said, I am really impressed so far, makes me wonder if they issued Vista too soon, and this is what we should have got.

I just hope when it is issued, there is a special price for Vista owners!!

Probably thick end of £200, overpriced like Vista Ultimate for an upgrade.:rotfl:
