Mint closed my credit card account!

I've had a Mint credit card for several years, but have not used it at all (with a zero balance) for some time. In late December I received a letter (dated 17 Dec) from them saying that my account would be closed in 30 days. Immediately, I called them and asked to continue my account. The member of staff I spoke to said a new card would be sent to me and, provided that I made use of it in the following 12 months, the account would be active. A week passed and I received a telephone call - claiming to come from Mint - to inform me that a new card was on its way, but could I answer a few security questions. Since the call was unsolicited, I declined. The caller then suggested I look out for the arrival of my new card.
8 days went by - and no card. This morning I called Mint to chase it up, only to be told that the account has been closed and, furthermore, I had been wrongly informed that a new card was being issued. My remonstrations were unsuccessful. The only course of action now open to me is to apply for a new card.
Poor customer service, wouldn't you say? Is there anything more I can do, short of applying for a new card, which I'm not keen on?
Any thoughts enthusiastically received.

a bit confused
why are you unset about losing a card you never use
and why aren't you keen on applying for another?0 -
I dont think you can do much other than apply for a new card. Their actions are justified based on the small print which states 'they reserve the right etc etc'.
If you do get a new card, i suggest you use it say once every quarter even if it is for a small £5 purchase. From a business point of view, they dont see u as good business as you have simply tied up the credit limit made available to u. No income was been earned by Mint.0
