Jay-Jay wrote:The page I went to was a microsoft update page and I downloaded an update on something or other 6.0 (not very helpful eh?
). I think I cancelled the download or I saved it instead of running it.... as I never know which to do
I THINK it saved as zlssetup or something similar in my documents file.
Same as me, you don't need it, if the message comes up just refresh the page and its as normalWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
Hi, I am not a whizz with pc's but know a little. This problem I believe is to do with NTL as on the Ebay forums all the people affected are with either NTL (Bromley + surrounding areas server) or companies that use NTL like Tesco.net + Virgin.net. It started in December (apparently NTL were upgrading the broadband speeds + maintenance) with pages of HTML text displaying on Ebay and now for the past week or so it is this pop up download box too. It has something to do with security. It only occurs on Ebay no other sites including my online banking are affected + display ok. I spoke to NTL support which is basically a waste of time. They told me to clear my cookies + files which did solve the problem. BUT I have to do this every time a click on a different ebay link or page, very annoying, frustrating and time wasting. The pop up box states 'getting file information' I don't think it's actually downloading anything but trying to load the page. An error message appears after a minute or so basically saying the requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found.
If anyone knows anymore or can help I would be very grateful as I am getting fed up with this and NTL's lack of help..... thanksPuddle Jumper 10 -

Have just talked an NTL user through this on the phone, these are the settings we tried. If they don't work, you might gave to give NTL a call.
Firstly go into tools at the top of the screen, then go into internet options. A box should pop up and it should have little tabs at the top, click on the one that says "connections". After that click on the "LAN Settings" button. Another box should pop up at the bottom where it says Proxy Server then tick where it says "Use a proxy server for your LAN settings", the box that is named address which was grey should become white and allow you to write inside it. Type in 213.105.224.11 click ok then ok on the internet options box then try to go and open another description.
Hope this helps

Hi, Is the problem still occuring? If so then it is most likely that your browser is interpreting eBay's program (eBayISAPI.dll) incorrectly and is trying to download its output instead of displaying it on screen.
I'll explain a little better... The eBayISAPI.dll is a program that runs on eBay's servers (not your PC) and grabs information from their database servers and generates the browser code (XHTML) which is then sent to your computer as the "output" and your browser interprets the output and displays the necessary fonts, files, images etc. as specified in the code. However, because it is not "static", the program is outputting the code, your browser may be interpreting it incorrectly and when ebay sends the output to your computer, your browser thinks you are downloading the file.
