I managed to pick up a big glass apocethary jar full of baulbles (only wanted the jar!) for £2, a throw for £3 and a drinks bottle for 50p in the Grimsby store yesterday. Loads of gorgeous throws down to £8 too.0

Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...

I used to work for TK as a manager. This is a nationwide event called "Final Clearance" within the company. It happens twice a year to get rid of what they class as seasonal stock or damaged stuff. They will reduce each item that is in the final clearance, daily for a week and on the last day the stuff gets reduced hourly.
A lot of people would come into my store and just grab handfuls of stuff to sell on ebay, knowing that by law you can return it anyway as long as you are within the time limit.
If you are prepared to rummage through some real crappy bits you can find some really good bargains. And it is in the stores interest to sell everything, as anything left just gets written off. (one good thing though, it does get sent to charity if it isn't damaged)Mummy to the most amazing and clever little girl x0 -

Thanks! I didn't know TK Maxx were allowed to sell damaged stock- once I picked out a top which was damaged, it had not been reduced at all and I took it to the customer service point as they had no more left in the store. I asked if they were able to take any sort of a discount off the top as it was torn. They took the top from me and told me they were "not allowed to sell on damaged stock"- they dumped the top in what looked like a big box of odds and ends. Hs this policy now changed? (this was about 3 years ago)0 -

That's good to know, especially the bit about leftovers going to charity.

No its not a new policy (infact i stopped working for them a couple of years ago, but my little bro works for them as a sa now lol!) It is entirely up to them whether they sell the product to you (As long as it is not dangerous, eg a photo frame with broken glass) however, common sense prevails that if something is damaged and still full price-you should reduce it if someone asks to get it out of the door! Obviously it depends on the damage and certain levels of management are allowed to give different amounts of discount. If and item has already been reduced (whether for the fault or just within the stores clearnace cycle) it is unlikely they will reduce it further. Also, the box of odds and ends are the things that customers have returned damaged or things that they have found damaged on the sales floor that are not suitable to still be sold. This stuff all gets reduced to £0.00 at the end of the day and thrown out.

Well I have tried to find out the date of the final, final, clearance and it might be next week. I was told in one store it is in 3 weeks time but was then told in another "I think its next week!"
I will pop in daily from Monday and update here when I'm sure! I have found that in the past Wednesday and Thurday are the best days.Money is only of any use if you can spend it!:cool:0 -
Hi guys,
Just thought I'd help you all out, sorry a bit late
Final Clearance week begins tomorrow, right through til Saturday when the final items get reduced hourly.
I work for TK Maxx, and this will be happening across the whole chain - so you should be able to get something good near you.
Hope this helps.

Thanks Dave in Blackpool for that! I was in a store yesterday but nothing has gone down since last Saturday. Cant wait until next week now!
Wonder if you can help with something else Dave? The codes on the tags, what do they all mean? Does anyone know? I ask because in the past they have used other items tag when one was missing to put the sale through the till. But surely the code does not belong to those items and could cause problems if you had to take it back?
Also when something has no tag why cant they find the code somewhere using the brand, colour etc?
Lastly, slightly off topic, has Steals gone from Blackpool now?
Thanks!!!!!!Money is only of any use if you can spend it!:cool:0 -
Reductions had started this afternoon in Westwood Cross, Thanet :thumbup:Only dead fish go with the flow...0
