Question RE: TK Maxx FINAL Sale.....

First thread so apologies if it's in the wrong area of the forum.....

Does anyone know if TK Maxx have already started slashing their prices to ridiculously low levels? It's usually towards the end of Jan when things start going down to £5, £3, £1, 70p then if you're lucky 30p!

Last year, I visited a couple of local stores on the last Saturday of their sale and got three pairs of jeans (including Seven For All Mankind) for 30p each plus a few dresses and tops. It's a bit hit and miss but worth a look.

Just wondered if anyone knew when it's likely to happen this year - or if they will even bother given the credit crunch?

Thanks!

wow- I never saw this last year- and I drop into about 4 separate branches in London (Kensignton, Charlton, Lewisham and Hammersmith) and did not see this sale in those stores- where abouts in the UK are you? perhaps its a local thing- don't get me wrong, they have clearences in London- but they don't generally have stuff below the £1 mark unless it was £2 to begin with (rare and not something I have seen).

I think this must be store specific: I was in two stores (castlepoint and wallisdown, bournemouth) yesterday and no sign of any extra reductions on "clearance" rails, still £20 and up for a lot of stuff.
  • They did this in mine 4 years ago they made a stand at the front with stuff in from 30p-£3 was mixed crap (single shoes!!, figurines with missing arms!!) and reasonable stuff, I bought a few bits before work went back at lunchtime and there was nothing left, and no sign it was ever there. I have tried since then to catch this sale again but no luck I think there is a 3 hour window and unless you are there then you won't even know it happened.

Well, I'm in Leicester and have found these fantastic bargains at a few stores near me - last year in Thurmaston (which is a big store) and a couple of years ago at the Rugby store. The Leicester city centre branch has now reopened in a bigger store so hopefully that will be a good bet this year. You really have to check every day to see the reductions go down and down and pick your optimum moment! And you do have to sort the wheat from a lot of chaff (empty boxes, odd shoes, things with holes in.....)

Now I don't work in the city centre I will probably miss out on the bargains, especially now I've mentioned it on here!!:rotfl:

Good luck finding those elusive bargains!!

  • I found a major bargain the year before last- salopettes for £1! I was very impressed.

Not so yesterday though, when I tried on a dress down to £14. The zip had broken & been torn away- but as I only wanted it for a costume I could have been "sewn into" it if need be. They refused to discount it at all though. As it is, I cant see anyone paying £14 and having to have a new zip put in- it wasn't that big a bargain. I just couldn't bring myself to buy it on principle. It hadn't been discounted because of the zip, so I wasn't going to pay the same as I would have for a perfect dress.

Was in the Clapham branch today and there was a guy reducing homewares items to 70p. But it was utter crap, broken Christmas ornaments, scratched picture frames etc. I noticed a couple of.70p kids items as well but they were all damaged.
    Who buys this stuff!!

The store in Wood Green,North London is like a huge jumble sale.Yesterday they were reducing further. What bargains could be found...........bars of soap in torn wrapers £3 etc., There was a large crushed toiletry box with items missing reduced to £18!!!!! Beautiful pair of leather soled shoes, £20 - great for someone with a size 6 left and 7 right. I know sometimes you can pick up something stylish and reasonably priced but only a small proportionof the stock is "designer".

Last year the 30p,50p,£1 etc. reductions were in the last few days of January and it is countrywide.
Basically they reduce all clearance items daily in the final week. It goes very quickly though as some ebayers/traders clear out the best of it with several trolley's. I have got lots of excellent bargains but it is like a jumble sale, and yes there are odd shoes and broken/torn items.
I have managed to get 2 valentino dresses and a jill sanders suit all for under £50 in the past.
If I can find out the actual date of the clearance week I will let you know.
Money is only of any use if you can spend it!
