is there a screen on the router admin page that shows if the router is connected to the internet so you can determine if the modem and router are connected but just not anything connected to the router.0
-
to be honest im not to sure that i will need to check how do i check this is it 198.162.2.10
-
Its all on http://192.168.0.1/ (or should be - if you can't get that far then there is a problem with the laptops wireless adapter.)0
-
stupid question but do i do this wireless or wired0
-
Wireless at first - because that will be a big test of whether you have a connection between the laptop and the router itself... if that doesn't work check with it wired to see if the router has a connection to the internet.0

just to let you know that we took the netgear back and bought a linksys wireless n router at cheaper price and better model and it worked first time with no problem had to fiddle about with set up page a little but works great. so from my experience i wont buy nothing else but linksys in future plus they have free 24 hour phone support. thanx to all who tried to help.0

i love consumers.. i won't buy anything by this brand because i couldn't get it to work..
honestly.. it would have worked, but it just wasn't set up right! networking isn't just a one click install button solution, never has been never will be, but it is easier than it was, say 5 years ago when wifi was in it's infancy...0 -
i spent 2 and a half hours speaking to netgear support this morning and went through everthing they sais in the end i was told its not going to work with vista and was told to exchange it for another one with vista compatability this was £90 where as the linksys was £55 without sounding clever thats £35 saving with the same goal in mind plus aint this the money saving expert well i just did.
:j
