Do I have any grounds for appeal

Parked in a pay and display area, paid the £2.00 for 2 hours and went about my business. Came back after 1 hour 15 minutes and my car wouldn't start. Had to walk to the train station, get a train to my parents, get my dad to drive back to my car so he could tow it home and take it to a garage tomorrow. However when I came back I had a ticket. I didn't put my hazards on, and didn't leave a message on my windscreen (which I was going to do). Do I have any chance?

Who is the ticket from? Council or private parking company?
If Council, which one and please show us the COMPLETE ticket (ALL of it, including the reverse).0 -
Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately I'm scanner-less. It's from the council. Says £50.00 fine or £25.00 if paid immediately. Anything I can do, or do I just suck it up. First time I've ever got a ticket and I'm gutted, wouldn't have minded if it was avoidable!0 -

Yes co-operate to help yourself!
Sorry peeps but i'm getting sick of this now!
(not a direct pop at you 'tiny' but because you all keep doing the same)
Idea >>> Advice forum .. you ask question ... someone tells you what is needed >>> you provide very basic info as requested.
I am scannerless??? Think outside the box! There are umpteen alternative facilities you can use!! If I have to list them then you don't have the necessary savvy to understand any info given to you anyway!
shall we start with something so simple but so crucial that everybody here seems to think is a big secret! What Council?
(Oh, and rant over, by the way, a breakdown is a legitimate exemption).

I'll get on it today, I'll do my best to get it scanned on today.
It's Salford Council. Will update more later. Cheers.0 -
Hint!!Mobile phone camera or ordinary digital camera either set on close focus should do.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Well it couldn't have got much better to prove my point!!!!!! LOL.
I did wonder when I noted your general area!
All recently seen Salford City Council PCNs are invalid! They continue to deny it and a couple of cases I know of still running but all previous ones have been WON!
Congratulations, you drew the lucky ticket! LOL0 -

If its a council, get your parents & the garage to countersign your letter or provide their own supporting letter. That should be enought to demonstrate you had a genuine mechanical problem & get it cancelled
Some authorities will try & con you that a recipt from a towing firm RAC/AA etc is all they will accept in this situation. If this happens, take it to the Tribunal - You will almost certainly be upheld.

Knowing Salford's PCNs, it's unlikely that any of that is necessary, as they do not comply with regulations, if I recall correctly.0 -

i agree pogo. It's a legitimate exemption as i said earlier and those are good ideas of yours to persuade the Council quickly. Add it to the fact that Salford PCNs are absolute tosh and , although there are never any gaurantees, this should be straightforward.
Do you ever get the feeling we are flogging a dead horse here though? Not a lot of belief that these are beatable is there!!!!0
