No baby seats in Spain - Canaries?

Last year we booked transfers with resort hoppers rather than get a taxi, told them the ages of my kids and they turned up with appropriate car seats - a booster and a stage 1 seat for my ds who was 18 months at the time. They are also on quidco!
Also, a booster is not ideal for a 21 month old but better than nothing (plus they weight next to nothing and can pick them up in tesco for less than £10.0 -
We take our Maxi-Cosi with us on every holiday we go on that does not have the option of one. I know they are big and heavy but i always think it is my son's safety that is at risk. I would never forgive myself if something went wrong and he was not in his chair.
People may have survived before seatbelts and car chairs, but more people survive now because of them. It does not take much, to realise a child that is safely secured in a seat, is going to stand a better chance than one held in someones arms, especially at that age when seat belts will be of not much use.
I would also try to find a company you can prebook with for the ride when you get there if you really do not want to take one and rebook for the way back.0 -
Ok, I rang easyjet as I couldnt find any info on their website.
You are allowed to take one item per adult passenger of hold luggage. The total of these items cannot be more than 20kg per person average. Eg.. you could have 1 x 28kg and 1x 12kg. One of these could be the carseat, but then you can only have one suitcase.
I shall give resort hopper a ring now and see what they say about having one the other end.

the law for baby seats in spain are that children aged 3 or under must use a suitable child seat, and children up to 12 should use one if available. if not they can use adult seats...spanish taxis do not carry car seats for babies, but they will allow you to carry the infant on your lap if you sit in the back and wear a seat belt. if particularly want a car with a child seat then you will need to book a private transfer.
We looked at transfers when going to Rhodes, for the cost of two of us, it almost worked out as cheap for us to hire a car for a week, which we did, we collected and dropped it off at the airport and it made life a lot easier.0 -
in this country our taxis are the same as mentioned above
our drivers here get angry if you start medding with putting in seats:eek:
im hiring a care in cyprus as it said transfers are 35/40 euros so the car im getting is just under 200 euros with car seats provided for the week and no excess to pay for the whole week.thought that is easier for us as will save on taxis and buses and kids will all be seated safely at least!

Resort hopper are calling me back as they said they could only request there be a car seat in their transport but could not guarentee it. I said no guarentee, no booking, so they have gone away to try and confirm.
Im looking at car hire now as an idea, wouldnt need anything exciting, small 5 door something, but im getting prices of like £250 for the week. eek! xx0 -
Dont think car hire is an option as my hubby hasnt had his license for a year yet. xx0
