Im getting married in the morning...Dong Dong...I dont know the rest of the song but you get the gist.
Had fantastic night with 2 of my Bridesmaids and my mum. Been pampered by wonderful woman who has done our eyelashes, nails, eyebrows etc and watched plenty of wedding tv. Watching Bride wars at the moment.

Good luck to all the girls for this weekend and next...Im away until Fri so might not get chance to get online again

Just bumping the thread really, hope everyone is doing well :) Only a few days left to go for us, & only just finished my table plan, cant actually find the placecards at the moment so it may be a pointless exercise!!!
My brother isn't bringing his 14 month old daughter as it will be too long a day for her, might have mentioned it more than 5 days before the wedding but nevermind, just wondering if his snooty wife who hates me will come down with some sort of bug on thursday!
Oh I asked my mil2b what colours she was wearing so the florist can match them to her corsage, she is wearing "a plum jacket, turquoise shrug & a black/turquoise dress" good luck to the florist on that 1. She is also insisting the fascinator/wee hat thing that she has "pimped" to match her outfit??? will be worn right on the middle/centre of her head not at an angle like the crazy hairdresser advised (& everyone else who has ever worn 1 but she knows best) oh well it might detract from the orange hair
    Booo!!!
  • Our wedding on 7th August went really well.

Dad ended up giving us £700 which mainly covered the food and drink.

Our family and friends were very generous which resluted in around £2000 which we are paying into mortgage.

    So, the final rundown was

    Dress- £10
    Shoes £9
Suit - £10 plus £18 to tailor it
    Shoes £20
    Misc bits £50

    Eva's dress £10

    Registry fees £215

Food £400 ( massive gammon, poached salmon, smoked salmon, cheeses, bread, salad, cakes.....)
Booze £250( real ale, organic cider and wine)
    Tableware £50

Chairs, tables and gazebos' all borrowed for the garden.

Comments from the guests were very positive and all the neighbours enjoyed it immensely.

The generosity has spurred me on to be more frugal and make more with what we have

  • if you are on facebook and friends/family have posted pictures of your wedding already, click on the ones you would like to put up on here (so they are at a big size), right click and a menu will come down - goto properties and another menu will pop up. copy the http address and then come to here and press the picture on the reply :) you can then paste the http address of the picture and bobs ur uncle :D it saves alot of going into photobucket and uploading etc etc
Got married on 1st August

Poppycracker, what a gorgeous bouquet! Looks like you had a lovely day.

I haven't updated for ages, i've been too busy, but with 4 days to go it's all falling apart!

My Groom has nowhere to stay the night before the wedding as the hotel over the road has mixed up the bookings and now has NO room. No other hotels in the area have reservations (we're on standby for any cancellations)

Last night at 7pm, my hairdresser calls me to say she can't do the hair anymore - 4 days before!!! I knew this would happen, she's a "friend" and there have been excuses for weeks now - we even said she could bring a friend when her OH backed out so she didn't have to drive 250 miles on her own. We now have 2 empty spaces and no one to do mine and my BM's hair. Worst thing was - she knew in the morning and left a whole working day where I could have been frantically trying to find a new hairdresser (who isn't booked on one of the busiest wedding weekends of the year!) and tells me at 7pm!

To top it all off, my sister says she is not coming now which leaves me a BM, Usher and FG down - all over a silly arguement and my parents are taking her side and telling me I need to phone and apologise even though SHE said she wasn't coming and hung up on me (after a tirade of abuse)

I'm SO tired. I can't wait to get married, but I really don't want to do the whole wedding thing anymore. It's ruined for me now. This whole wedding planning has been a struggle and series of disappointments and I can't wait for it to be over!

*big hugs* to you sexki11en. What a lot of problems you're having :(. Unfortunately weddings and things like them bring out the worst in people and its always the people who are getting married who suffer.

First Problem: The groom doesn't have to stay somewhere else, we spent the night together. I just went up to where my mum was staying in the morning with my bridesmaid and got ready up there, and himself got sorted at the flat with his best man. I know its traditional but it worked ok for us.

second problem: Do you have any friends who could do your hair? You've probably thought of that, but its amazing what can be done, I just washed mine, luckily its naturally a bit wavy and the feathers disguised the bit that sticks up at the back!! Are you having a fancy do or are you wearing something on your head?

third problem: Families are difficult aren't they *hugs*. I'd give it 24 hours then ring your sister. I'm sure she will have calmed down and be willing to talk about it. Be prepared to find alternate BM, usher etc if the worse comes to the worse but I'm sure it wont.

I know how you feel about not wanting to go through all the bother anymore, thats how I was feeling but its worth it in the end. Just remember its your day (and your H2Bs!)
