tomato ketchup - my findings

As most people don't use an awful lot with a meal, I can't see how changing to a low sugar one would make a lot of difference. My kids prefer heinz although when they did a blue or green one ( can't remember exactly) they wouldn't eat it although it tasted exactly the same.
I prefer BBQ sauce with my chips, Heinz especially.0 -

In addition to the Best Before Date, often stamped on the lid - did you realise that bottles of ketchup have a 'Use within x weeks of opening' message printed on the label?
Heinz is 8 weeks, Sainsbury's is 6 weeks. (Not that I pay any attention to it  )
valk_scot - That might get your children off the hook with that bottle of Lidl ketchup!0 -

Aye, and you are supposed to keep it refrigerated, but to be honest I never have, and I use it past its best before, and I appear to still be aliveWe have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
Tastes better when it isnt refridgerated.0

Lidl/Aldi - can't remember which - do a 'lighter life' or something version that has no sugar or thickener in it, just sweeteners. It's very very good.0

Sweetners taste artificial to me. I dont like artificial sweetners in anything (hard to avoid these days in many things though)0 -
I don't mind supermarket own brands and I tend to buy Heinz or Branston if it's looking like good value. I haven't bought the bottled variety for a long time. For the amount and how often I use it I really don't care about the sugar content. If I were that bothered I'd make some tasty home made stuff myself. I'd say a small bottle lasts me at least 6 months.
Mayonnaise on the other hand................0
