Orange SPV c550 Tips and Tricks

Options
Anyone got any advice? Just bought one for £109.99 from Orange. I have it connecting to my PC OK. I have managed to copy some MP3's onto it and have set the music buttons on the front to use Windows Media Player rather than the default Orange one that wants to go online all the time.

What can I do with it now? Can I get any good software for cheap or free? Should I unlock it or remove the Orange software from it? I use it on Orange network but got one of the free Virgin SIM's which I could use for backup if I had no Orange signal.

It is a great phone, I'm really pleased with it.

I've been toying with getting a C550. Presumably it comes with Orange branded software? If so, is there an easy way of getting it replaced by a generic version?

    Thanks

Yes. The orange software isnt that intrusive, but there is a rom available which makes it carrier free. Have a search on modaco for details on it.
  • Yes I agree, I managed to unlock it no problem and have details about removing all the Orange stuff but as you say it's not really intrusive so I'll just leave it for now. I want Space Invaders.

Spv version of space invaders here.
May not fill fullscreen on spvc550 as was designed for c500, and as you know screens are different sizes.

OK thanks. I've been looking into the c550 a bit closer and there seem to be a lot of reports that it takes a very long time to boot up (~2 minutes) and has a very slow UI, is that really the case?
