Define expected mileage.
Clutches are classed as consumables. There's no hard fast rule to how long they'll last.Conor

Dpes it have a dual mass flywheel? That might be your problem?0

I have a 57 reg CRV and the clutch and trhe clutch pedal are awful - the clutch is going to need major surgery soon as it judders (I have been driving for more than 30 years and have never had a clutch changed in a car before).
I am beginning to hate this car...0 -
I have an 06 CRV still within the warranty and also have clutch problems, The dealer says the dmf may be warped and may not be covered by the warranty!!!!! if not looking at £1500 to replace the clutch and dmf.
So much for Honda's reliability.0 -
Hi
We (the AA) have examined a few clutches lately, following early failure. Many dealers don’t look at the clutch, but because it’s a component which can be abused by drivers who ride the clutch, they assume that’s the cause. Two recent examples displayed no evidence of slipping, but the friction material on the centre plate had been torn off in chunks.
There were high spots on the dual mass flywheel and placing a straight edge across the pressure plate indicated it was warped. That’s not a driver problem – it’s a manufacturing fault. I’m hoping garages will look more closely at the nature of the clutch failure, especially now the repair bills are so enormous.“Official Company Representative

I have a 55 plate CRV cdti, 38,000 miles owned from new. It has just started slipping its clutch slightly in 5th and 6th gear @ 2400RPM when going uphill.
The clutch doesn't seem to be able to handle the torque of the engine, I hear that Ford have had problems with the DMF's. Honda UK says there is no known problems and have not upgraded the clutch parts.
I do not ride my clutch and have never had to replace one due to my driving in over 35 years.
Honda UK have said they will (subject to examination) supply parts FOC but I will have to pay the Main Dealer labour cost.
Looking at other forums many others are having the same clutch problems on the 2.2 CDTI engines.
Not good enough Honda.0 -
it depends on the type of mileage you do really0

I have a 57 plate CRV that has just got to 30,000 miles. The car is on its second replacement clutch master cylinder (made from plastic) due to a clicking noise on both occasions & the clutch has just started to slip in gears 2 - 6 if i give it full throttle above 2000 rpm. Now im wondering how to make a warranty claim without getting an instant "we do not warranty clutches brakes and tyres" statement from the dealer I purchased it from new.
I have also had squeaky front brakes rectified with a shim kit fitted last week.Herbie1964 wrote: »Is anyone out there having problems with diesel CRV or Civic clutch failure at less than expected milage?0 -
