Hi have been caught by speed cameras on a couple of occassions and would like a unit that audibly warns when travelling over the limit - does this unit do this.

    Thanks

This never saved me with a hidden mobile cam a couple of years ago, which wasn't on the speed cam database. Now I just don't speed, can't get caught, have less to worry about & it's much safer! The speed cam database gave me too much confidence, & if it wasn't for that I most likely wouldn't have been speeding! Not trying to lecture, just my own personal experience.

Thanks for that but I was not looking for speed cam sites. I too would like to travel below the speed limit but old habits die hard and if there was an audible warning when speed limits were exceeded that would be an added safeguard. I was told this was available on Tomtom in safe mode but wondered whether the navigo could also do this.

Thanks for that terricfan but I understood the TomTom can give audible warnings, not necessarily a voice, whenever the speed limit is exceeded anywhere, not only at speed cam sites. Just wondered whether the navigo could do the same
The Navigo will operate as a Tom Tom with a software change as described earlier.

I have Tomtom running on the Navigo and as well as the usual speed camera warnings it also warns me if I stray over the speed limit anywhere , if i was to go over the allowed speed a female voice says " You are over the speed limit "

Personally I prefer Nav N Go Igo8 as it's a more advanced navigation sysytem with features like lane assist , signpost view , buildings view etc and for the speed warning you can set the tolerances for road types and it also allows you to set it on percentage of speed limit or actual speed , e.g Warn if either 1% or 1 MPH over in built up areas and and allow 10% or 5 MPH elsewhere.

I sometimes use the Tomtom software though as I have mine set up to boot up in Windows CE and can start it playing MP3's ( plays through car speakers via FM transmitter ) then I minimise the MP3 player and start the satnav software, Igo8 uses a little more memory than TT and sometimes causes problems with the MP3 playback but TT plays fine - the music is muted whenever a satnav announcement is made so nothing is missed.

P.s. 2Gb Toshiba SD cards are only £3.19 delivered at 7 Day shop.

I sort of agree. The one downside of Igo8 compared to TomTom (last time I checked) was that you can't just put in a post code and a house number to set your destination - this is very useful for deliveries. This appeared to be fixed in the latest version of iGo8 but then it transpired that a significant number of postcodes were missing. Once this is sorted iGo8 will be my number 1 choice for sure.

EDIT : Think I've found a map which it works with for postcodes!!! :-) Off to try it.

Got 2 of these from ebuyer for my (adult) children, loaded Tom Tom v7 and Miomap 3.3 on to it with great instructions from http://www.thepctailor.com/index.htm which you need to register with (free and no hassle).
I would recommend this sat nav very highly, great value for money. (I paid about £45 from Ebuyer)

Can you get New Zealand maps from this site to run on tomtom?
Would be handy as I am going a flydrive holiday to Australia, NZ & US.
    Thank you

I've posted elsewhere about this but this thread is about the Navigo specifically so thought I would try here too.

Basically my new sat nav arrived without a touch pen. Do people use this and should I send it back for a complete kit?

    thanks.
