Thanks everyone. As I say, I'm not really surprised and had even anticipated being made redundant when I came back from maternity leave. Will give me th enudge I need to find something that is actually going to allow me to be occupied on a full time basis and actually stretched a bit maybe...
In many respects I am in a good position because of maternity pay being guaranteed do for us the next 6 months or so is pretty much a status quo financially. I just (!) need to find a job by 31 August...
sorry about that Luc............:(
However..........what I will say is you have a long lead in time to find something else and after 'getting over' the shock of redundancy, you may find it fires you up to want to try something new. Although I'm now really poor (sob!), I don't regret a complete change of career and starting again from the bottom of the ladder has given me lots of new stuff to learn. I hope you also gain something positive from a negative experience.

Evening - thanks to everyone who has sent me messages of support, either on here, by PM or on Facebook etc - they've been really appreciated. I'm starting to feel a little bit better.
Something happened today that almost led me back into the same pattern of behaviour - I stopped it before it started, and it made me feel a bit sad, but sort of happy too.
I started a new diet today and have done quite well if only I can make it through till bedtime without opening the large bag of yummy crisps in the cupboard.
