Fake DVD website warning!!

There's no evidence until you purchase something and it doesn't turn up/it's fake/your card details get used elsewhere - until then it's purely a shoddy and insecure website.0

Hence the warning not to go that far0

"I foresee lots of new posters telling us how they had no problems and the goods are brilliant."
I joined a long time ago and have just been waiting to support this company
I have bought lots of DVDs from this company and the are not fake........the DVDs are real. just the contents are fake..................:rotfl: .lol
Seriously, are people that desperate that they will look at this site and think..omg I must buy from them?0 -
Thanks for all your information about "dvdsetshop.com" and other companies selling possibly bootleg or dodgy DVD sets.
I was almost about to process an order with them but something just didn't ring true, call it female intuition, call it what you like but it was enough for me to go online and have a look for stories about them, which is where I came across all of this. I therefore decided to process the order to the point where my credit/debit card details would be asked for, I was sensible enough to use a fictitious name and address. At that point the alarm bells went off BIG TIME!!
I wanted to buy a boxed set that isn't officially being released until after the New Year and was surprised that "dvdsetshop.com" were offering it before Christmas. Initially I just thought they had some great agreement with the distribution company but the more I thought about it, the more things didn't make sense.
As you will all know - any site that is secure and receiving secure payments should have the little padlock symbol in the actual bar where the website name is (not anywhere else on the page), on my own laptop the bar turns green but I'm sure this will vary depending on your personal PC settings. The padlock on that bar itself is a guarantee of your payment being processed securely. There was no padlock to be seen on the bar or anywhere for that matter!! I therefore knew that there was something strange about this particular site and transaction. I also noticed that instead of having https at the begging of the web address, which should ALWAYS appear when a secure transaction is about to be processed, did not appear when I clicked to send payment, which was just another indication that there was nothing secure about the payment had I processed it.
Please always remember to check that the web address has changed from: http:// to https:// when you go to make any payment otherwise you are not making a secure payment.
Please be very very careful if using this site "dvdsetshop.com" as there are too many inconsistancies for me to be comfortable to give them card details of any sort.
If they are/were a successful eBay company, why do they not offer payment through PayPal?
I'm no IT expert but this is just so blatantly wrong, I had to write as I don't want to see anyone stung by them.
No padlock and no https = no security whatsoever, if you are still hell bent on buying from them, at least use a credit card as opposed to a debit card as your credit card company should provide you with a degree of security and refund you should the goods never arrive - the only problem then being that this mob have your credit card details and cloning happens so quickly, it will probably be more advisable to close down your card immediately.
I don't want to scare monger and I'm sure there are folks out there that have had satisfactory transactions with them but will some unauthorised payment come off your card in six to twelve months? We work too hard for the money we have to just hand it over to complete strangers with no guarantees and if the basics aren't there (the padlock and https), as so many have said already, if something seems too good to be true, it usually is!!
Thank you for giving me the heads up, I'm very grateful!!0 -
Thanks all for the info on dvdsetshop, I was about to make a purchase until I googled them and found this thread...BUT, the really annoying thing is that I'd never heard of them until I did a price comparison on Martin's megashopbot.com and it came up with dvdsetshop, come on Martin remove them from your comparison please...I nearly bought something from them on your reccomendation!0

Doesn't section 75 only apply to purchases over £100?0 -
Can anyone out there who HAS traded with this company, that either received fakes OR nothing at all, or indeed can confirm them to be reputable please post their feedback on here.
I have no doubt there will be plenty of posts proclaiming a good service (if indeed its fake), however it only needs just one or two posts of confirmed "fake" to burst this bubble.
I cannot say either way, having never used them, but I do find the website unsecured and very dodgy indeed.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I have traded with this company on many occassions. The first couple for myself and extended family were successful. Yes I would be dubious regarding the idea that the discs were not copies however both the quality and pricing were great and since i'd first located the website via more than one price comparison site I felt confident. We even recommended it to neighbours and friends who borrowed our boxsets.
After building up our confidence we overlooked the lack of a paypal payment option and only realised the we were not being redirected to a secure payment page (the https :- prefix on web link at top of page) whenever we were having trouble with the total on the invoice not matching the total being removed from our credit card. This is a problem that has yet to be resolved and on closer inspection friends and family found inacuracies on their invoices also. Sometimes out by only $13 but on another a total second payment had been removed.
For a finish we received a totally incorrect boxset and in very poor condition- not wrapped in the bubble wrap of all previous orders. When we discussed this via live chat we were told to photograph it and all relevant postage stickers and email images before they would consider any exchange or refund. This we did but were asked to resubmit again and again over a period of weeks as they either couldn't see it or couldn't locate the email (I work in IT and photography for a living and know when i'm being given the run around). When listing all previous orders and all queries/ problems regarding each, my view orders page was deleted from my sign in page showing no previous orders - despite there having been a dozen. Moreover, an outstanding order was mailed to me as having being cancelled and no monies returned and even although i paid for recorded delivery to return the error boxset we are still chasing our refund or alternative boxset for some nine months now.
In addition, the friends and family we recommended the website to have had attempts to remove monies from their credit card. Our own credit card also had a security breach on the same day of our last online purchase, our bank security system cancelled all usage of the card - even whilst we travelled in Europe- until i presented myself to the nearest branch to confirm personal details and documents. Although it can never be concluded 100% that this was dvdsetshop, it was enough for us to be told by our bank that the attempted breach was from Chongqing China, an address clearly stated on your postage information when you receive your boxset.
In conclusion I feel we were extremely niave customers in our excitement to receive entire seasons of shows you never seem to get the time to see on TV at a massive discount price. In the long run we got less than what we paid for and you can't put a price on the endless emailing, chasing and security breach to our credit card. Now we opt for Amazon!
Hope this info helps0 -
Hi,
Recently i found the website dvdsetshop.com and stupidly bought a boxset without researching into this forum. I have just spend a good time reading through all the thoughts and experiences with this website and decided to ring my bank to see if there was anything i can do. The company has already taken the money out of my bank and stupidly i paid by debit card. The boxset has not arrived yet so i cannot comment on it but im more scared of them taking money out of my bank in the future...
As its after closing hours my bank said i have to call them back in the morning so i just wanted to know if anyone knows if i can somehow block the company from using my card etc... im pretty new to buying stuff online (apart from Amazon) so i obviously just fell for it hook line & sinker and didnt realise about all the security glitches people have mentioned e.g no padlock symbol etc. Has anyone done the same as me? And if so, did anything bad come from it?
Any help on this would be great.
