SCAM WARNING! - ExpressCarPrices.com / Express Car Prices

• I am also in dispute with this company, I received a 'valuation' at the beginning of the year for a car I had just sold through Autotrader. The valuation was rubbish given the current economic climate. The valuation also had a margin of error of £1100 either way! How much 'research' do you need to do when you give a margin of error that big! When I was looking for a car valuation before Christmas I made a point of putting 'FREE CAR VALUATIONS' in the search box. I've been in touch with Consumer direct, Autotrader basically couldn't help or didn't want to know. I got an e-mail from expresscarprices.com today saying they have my IP address and e-mail address, they want me to check with everyone I know in case someone else made the valuation request. They also told me they take this very seriously and they report all fraudulent activity to the police. I also tried Googling the company, couldn't find them until I put their web site address in full in the search box. I will be phoning consumer direct again this week to find out what my next step is.

I'm new to this forum but I am in dispute with this company called Express Car Prices. I recently sold my car privately through E-Bay Motors and prior to the sale I sourced various used car valuations (FREE OF CHARGE) from a variety of companies on the web. I kept their details and the valuations on an excel spreadsheet to work out and average price of what I should be looking for. I never accessed this companies website as the price is unbelievable and you don't even get an instant valuation by the sounds of things. On saturday (31st Jan) I was shocked to get an invoice for £39 and a valution certificate from Express Car Prices (The valuation was incredibly inflated!), they didn't even have the correct spelling of my forename. I can categorically state I never ordered this valuation and I even tried to call them to challenge the invoice but no telephone number is supplied on their website. I have been communicating with them via an e-mail address of info@expresscarprices.com and a chap called 'John. They are now stating that they are referring matters to a fraud department and the police. Can anyone offer any advice to me on this? Thanks in advance.
I am in a similar position with these people. I have informed Trading Standards about it and they suggest that I ask for a Proof of Contract and also a Subject Access request and Source of Data, to determine where they obtained my details. Apparently they can charge £10 for this, but i suspect that you wouldnt hear anymore from them anyway. When I get a reply to my email to them, thats the position i will take.

I would be interested to know where you are with this. I have been in touch with trading standards about receiving an unasked for invoice. i am waitng for a reply to an email I sent to the sender, before replying with a request for a Proof of Contract. I will also want a Subject Access request and Source of Data, as i believe they are receiving details from other sites, which is contrary to the Data Protection Act. You may want to consider a similar request if they keep on bothering you. Bootneck1

• Hello all,
I have also been charged for using this site. I did not see anywhere on it that I would be charged for using this service and was a bit perplexed to get a bill through the post. I would never pay for such a service and I was just "browsing" around comparing valuations when I went on this site.
I have had the reminder through this week but I will be following Bootneck's1 advice about this and will be contacting trading standards myself. Funnily enough I was about to pay the stupid thing,I put the name in google and saw this link come up.
Thank the lord for that.
I am now going to fight this.

I got a 'Reminder' letter from this company saying if I don't pay within 7 days they would add late payment fees. I got in touch with Consumer direct who said they could not do that while the transaction is in dispute. I've sent Expresscarprices a letter by recorded delivery to tell them this, I also asked them to send me any evidence they have that I was ever on their site (IP address) or that a transaction took place.
I decided to communicate with Expresscarprices only by recorded delivery letter and not e-mail, the reason being they might get my IP address from an e-mail. I have given them 14 days to respond or I have said I will consider the matter closed. If they do respond I will be making a subject access request and source of data.
• Will also be going to the Citizen's Advice to get legal advice if this goes any further.
• So now we know where George W Bush has gone to.

He's in charge of Expresscar prices.com.

However. . . if Dubya and his cronies don't acquirify someone's signed consent to valuate, then the valuatening isn't valididified so the completed valuatenificationing is unvaluelessable.

Look on the bright side though.

Expresscar prices com is handing £5 over to the UK's cash-strapped Treasury from every £39 valuatenificate issued.

I can't find Expresscarprices VAT Registration Number on their website but it will surely appear on all those VAT invoices they're sending out. . .
• Further to my previous post, the home page has changed since I used it,the home page never had all the information on it that it has now.How can I prove this in a court of law?
