if the property may be listed by igt then ng would tell you who it is and give you the number to call to reach their database - if neither hold details for what ever reason the advise we give (I am ng) is that you contact a supplier of choice advise them that ng and or igt hold no details and then you are free to register with a new supplier, and they are the new supplier is responsible for arranging for a mprn number to be generated if required - and the suppliers are fully aware of this even if some of their staff appear not to be
If the property has an IGT then surely if the consumer calls NG and gives them their details then nothing will appear on the NG database so how from this would you be able to tell them who their IGT is? Do NG now hold basic details for IGT's as well as they definately never used to.0 -

whilst details of the gas supplier will not be held it will be detailed against the address that it is a igt address that us how ng know as they manage the emergency service for england, scotland and wales so we have details or access to details of every property with gas in the country, whilst I have been there we have been able to advise customers but it changed today we now only see igt listed but no details howver if you look at your gas meter there should be a sticker on it somewhere telling who your gas transporter is.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -
It sounds like you may have what is called a "Shipperless Site"... So the national grid are distributing gas to your property, but they arent charging any of the billing companys for the gas used, and therefore you arent being billed. So yes.. this is "Free Gas". So the multiple choice answers are all well and good....
(a) Mr Smith
(b) The gas supplier
(c) Sky TV
.....................With the obvious answer being (B).. but some people dont actually have a gas supplier. E.G... You cant pay EDF for the gas at your property because they arent the company paying for the gas supplied to the property, neither are
British Gas
Scottish Power
NPower
E.On
Southern Energy... or any other company for that matter.
If this is a shipperless site, just sit back, and enjoy the ride.
Hope this helps.Sunny in Southampton.0 -
Contact the Supplier of your choice and ask them to take ownership of the Supply. They will ask you for a meter reading and you will be billed from that reading only. It takes approximately 6 weeks to create an MPRN and set up an account with my company BG.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Why did you bother? Now you'll be paying for all future usage.
Perhaps this was why
2.8.3 SHIPPERLESS/UNREGISTERED SITES
...However, in many cases, suppliers will only issue a bill from the time that the consumer contacted them.
Suppliers are allowed to bill for all fuel that has been used, even if they were not the registered supplier at the time, therefore consumers should not be surprised to receive a bill for the entire period that they have lived at the property.
