Dialwise - do BT still charge a call connection fee?

Hiya
I've been wondering why my BT bills are higher than I thought they should be so I have gone through my itemised bill and looked at the dialwise number I use a lot to phone my parents in Spain. The call cost is 0.5p a minute but do BT still charge a connection fee? The calls are all a minimum of 8p.
If I switch to Tesco for my home phone, is this classed as leaving BT as I think I am tied in with them??
Thanks
abi

Yes there is a connection fee. Not sure about Europe but for UK calls it is 7p.
And I do not think Tesco have bought out BT yet.0 -
You're dialling a UK non-geographical (0844) gateway number and charging starts as soon as you've finished dialling the 11th digit thereof (i.e. before you've even started dialling the Spanish target number) so BT charges their standard 7p call set-up fee and a minimum of one minute @ ½p.I've been wondering why my BT bills are higher than I thought they should be so I have gone through my itemised bill and looked at the dialwise number I use a lot to phone my parents in Spain. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
