recieved this today at work from our resources team.

    Afternoon all,

Please can you inform all your agents that if they commit to working at least 4 hours overtime on Saturday they will be able to work overtime on Sunday. We will not be giving overtime out to anybody on Sunday unless they commit to working 4 hours or more on Saturday.

There are no incentives over and above the standard time and half Saturday and double time on Sunday.

    Many thanks

just though i would share this because i could not beleive they really sent it out:mad:
Do you work in the BG call centre?

What's the weather like in India today?

... and as spiro says, even if this is genuine, this is a common policy across may jobs/industries. Some people seem to have it to think they are owed a living nowadays.

Wait until they introduce the rule that no worker is entitled to any premium rate working until they have completed the initial 40 hours per week at basic rate, no matter what day/time they work. ;)

Its in place with most suppliers Ive worked with, however call centre staff who work outside normal hour 9 - 5 mostly qualify for unsociable hours payments with most suppliers.

Also Ive worked on Emergency Powerloss helplines which run on the same premises. I could be called in at any time and was on call out, therefore qualified for 'Stand By' entitlement.

Also if your job description entails that Saturday is a working day in your contract, Im not so sure the initial email posted wouldn't apply and that you worked at least four hours on your scheduled day off you will be entited to Sunday overtime at double time.
