  • Hi angel voice
Do you have a care worker or support worker you could talk to about your issues. You really shouldn t try to self diagnose yourself,it can be very dangerous. From the list you ve printed there s not many of those symptoms i don t suffer on the days after i work nightshifts.(and im healthy)
Bipolar is a complicated illness that doctors can miss ,you could have this or you could have something different.Either way you need support and a diagnosis to try and move you forward in life. Are you in contact with the mental health services in your area?

pmsl i USED TO have a cpn, but that was only temp u till i saw some1 from eating disorders i ended up bein banned from the premises for aggressive behaviour. that was what i was asking for help with there but the CPN told me she wasnt going to offer anything!!! in the letter they wrote 2 inform me i was banned from entering the premises they said "we understand you are fustrated with the wait for the eating disorder clinic blah blah blah" which proved they hadnt listend cos i have been happy with the help i have been getting so far from them with the dieticion at the eating disorder place
support worker or care worker, i apparenly used to have a support worker when i was younger never saw them didnt even know their name, when i asked for an assesment of my needs the cpn refused sayin i ahd one in 2006. and wouldnt refer me for a socal worker. i have been withou help for most of my life, and it seams its going to carry on like this sadly.

I fail to see how a psychiatrist can see a patient for one appointment and make such a serious diagnosis of personality disorder.

    It frightens me.
i have been to the hospital about 5 times in the last year, im tempted to just record evrything on tape that is wrong with me and tell them to listen 2 it. feels like im stuck on repeat!!! i spoke to the psychatrist for about 4 hours. but suprise suprise fook all help was offered. i mean what do our taxes go on??? certainly not helping people with mental health problems if it takes a min of 2 years for CBT

2006 oh my god.I know nothing about mental illness yet ,i know that life can change for any-one within that time frame.Thats just ridiculous.
Do you have a good support network at home angelvoice.(partner parents etc) some-one who can try and help you arrange a support worker or social worker. They can t just leave you with no help.

i have fantastic support at home, mum and dad brill, and as for my bf he shud be given a medal with all the stuff i ahve put him through, stoping my arm bleeding after finding me cuting myself again isnt in the job description!!! he is the only person who i can tell EVERYTHING but sadly i only see him on wkends as he works away a fair bit :(
how would i go about gettin support worker or socail worker, my mum was saying to day she is going 2 try and get a community care assesment done on me but i dont knwo what that is. when i was with CAHMS my consultant passed away took them a year 2 employ another one, then when i was 16 they wrote me off their books and said if your getting no support adult services HAVE to take you on... supprise supprise they didnt. seams if you tick more than one catagory they dont want to know. they seem to only see my tourettes and ignore everything else then claim they cant help me at all becasue i have tourettes even tho i dont want them to help with that!!!

just wanted to say that I empathise with trying to get treatment and I hope that you get somewhere faster than this
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

    hey

i just want to say that i really feel for you. Someone mentioned self diagnoses is a dangarous thing and another says the internet has a lot to answer for. BUT when you go to a psycharist, if they think you have a mental illness, all they do is look at the DSM and match what you have said to whats in the book. You know yourself better than anyone so im sure you can diagnose yourself. Obviously if the professional is dead set against what you think then either they dont understand you or you dont understand yourself.

When i went to see my psycharist i mentioned that me and my boyfriend thought i might have borderline personality disorder from what we have read (we both came to this conclusion independantly of each other- i didnt know he thought i had it until i told him i think i might have it). Because i said this she thought (and i know this does happen) that i was just making everything up and i was trying to get this diagnoses. I wasnt going to say anything to her about it but my counsellor said i should because it will help my psycharist out because she will have a starting point.

So if you say you think you have it then they may be reluctant to diagnose you with it (or anything) because they might think you are just trying to get a diagnoses.

Getting a diagnoses does help in one way because you can put a lable on it and go ok its just my bipolar disorder, its not really me, when things get bad. But on the other hand, it doesnt change who you are and whats going on.

Just over a year ago i went to hospital for taking an over dose. Whilst the staff were nice as far as i can remember (i was pretty out of it most of the time) i was only there for a couple of hours, which i later found out from my counsellor that they have to keep anyone who has attempted sucide over night to check they are ok.

I also cant believe the doctor didnt know what touettes syndrom is. Most people know what it is, so doctors should. Its terrible the way you have been treated.

From my experience its a long battle to get help. But please dont give up.

Apologises if any of this sounds patronising or whatever, its not meant to be. I was just kind of typing things im a way that makes sense to me.

Anyway, if you need to talk to anyone about stuff get back to me or PM me. take care :)

Hi I to have mhp . Your gp can refer you to your local mht.and you can ask for a second opinion from a psychiatrist. My partner had to insist on a second opinion so its a case of having someone to push your case with the gp.
    Dont give up keep trying.

I had the same thing moving from children to adult services, I saw an adult councellor so my child psychiatrist said I didn't need to see him any more, then because he'd discharged me the adult one said that I must be fine and not need help!

I think you should try and push for a social worker, if your parents will help you that'll be great, I tried but gave up, I had no one to support me through it and stand up for me but you have so go for it.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Hi there AV222 I don't know much or anything really about Bipolar in fact it seems to be something which is said a lot in OK magazine but I don't hear it much anywhere else, anyway I digress what I wanted to say was that I feel so bad for you that you felt so helpless in the A&E and obviously left still feeling s**t. It is hard to know how others are feeling sometimes and I can't say I've ever had to go through what you have, OK I think I'm rambling a bit here and probably not making much sense but what I wanted to say was that I felt bad after reading your story and wished there was more help out there for you and others suffering from your condition. Hugs.
