Samsung e530 - Orange Signal Problems

I have a Samsung e530 on contract with Orange and I am not happy with the phone at all. In my own home I cannot get a signal unless I am standing at the window at the front of the house, and even then it doesn't always work. Which means if I am home I cannot make or recieve calls. My partner has a contract phone as well (on Orange) which is the Moto v3 and hers works perfect in the house no matter where she is.

I spoke to Orange about this and they said they cannot do anything about it, it is the phone that is the problem that the signal strenght is not that strong and I will have to put up with it (that was the jist of the conversation). I feel I have been done by Orange, I pay £30 a month for their service and this phone was recommended by Orange, so you would expect it to work. Where do I stand on this - can I demand another phone from them?

Ive brought the same phone on t mobile and the signal has never been less then full, id be surprised if it was the orange network as my previous orange contracts have all had excellent signals so it most likely the phone.

If it under guarantee i would ring orange again and speak to a manager to see how this goes, then if no luck maybe send a strong worded letter and maybe put unfit for purpose under sale and goods act, they may wake up then.
