Another double glazing quote ! (& recomendations req.Lincolnshire)

Just had the chap round from a local double glazing company.

10 windows and 1 front door £3295 fitted with 10yr insurance backed guarantee, all windows have full opening and 5 have vents at the top, 2 have safety glass and the bathroom is frosted.

Does this sound reasonable ?

And can anyone recommend a company around Sleaford , Lincs

I know of Cliffside, Starglaze & Supreme Windows

Thanks

    Right here goes

    87w x 120h (6 of)
    44w x 102h (2 of)
    116w x 146h
    88w x 39h

5 have air vents at the top, 2 have safety glass and all have top half openings

Sizes in cm and are approximate
  • when you say vents do you mean openers or trickle vents

They've just quoted me £3,300 for a new glass conservatory roof which is £900 cheaper than the nearest other quote. Starglaze haven't got the best reputation, look on Yell for Harlequin too, they are linked to another firm that is good.
Also look in the Yellow pages for Mark Stringer. He's not the cheapest but he's got a good name.
  • i would say the quote you have had is reasonable .i would say that £3-3.5k is where there gona be

Thanks had a few round now, a company called Cliffside Windows is looking the best, they came to £3k, they are local and have been around for 40 years, had a few recommendations about them as well, a couple of people had small niggles but they were sorted quickly which is a good sign.

We had EYG around and i would urge people to stay away , they started at £6.5k then had a "special offer" and he discounted it to £4.8k , i told him it was too dear so he phoned his boss and a special deal for tonight only was £3.5k, told him i wasn't signing anything tonight and sent him on his way, cant be doing with salesmen like that

Got 2 more to come around now this week, then we will make our decision
  • make sure the profile used is one of the top 4 on the market Kommerling, rehau, veka or profile 22 in that older

Ok just a couple of last questions if you dont mind you have been very hepfull so far.

The cheapest quote is at 3k now and i have changed the design of the windows to a different design(more openings) , the one i said was £3295 (in first post) is now £3600 after changes, they use eurocell profile

The 3k quote uses Spectus profile, i did comment on the dark tint of the Pilkington K glass and they are upgrading to softcoat which looks clear and was told its better than K glass.

I can afford 3k and extra would mean a loan which i dont really want to do but may do if its worth the extra, still got 2 more to come around, had Starglaze tonight and they were £3800 (Deceuninck Profile) after a special 40% discount

Any comments on the above appreciated
