Well done, lostnfound, thats a great start! :T
Now, how about gicing yourself a challenge to aim for - see if you can pay of the Cahoot debts by, say, Easter?
A general question for the more-expert-than-me - when she writes to Provident, would it be a good idea to sat that someone else was supposed to be making the payments and didn't tell her when they stopped paying, so she had no idea they were being missed?

Okay phoned around this morning for broadband got three quotes:
Sky £17.00
Bt 3months half price, then £14.99 there after
Aol who i am currently with best they could do was £16.99
So i have opted for Bt saving myself £5.00 so thats a start
Youngest has just come in from school and handed me a letter that school meals are going up from £1.50 for a two course meal to £1.82 an increase of 32p so definately going for the packed lunch option.
Phoned in my meter readings for gas and electric and awaiting bill to tell me how much i need to pay hopefully ill have paid enough to bring the the monthly payments down.
Can i ask if i write a letter to provident can i ask then to show me a breakdown of what is the loan and what is the interest as it would really help to figure out if i could give them the the loan money back only as a full and final settlement or lower if they would accept it but ive no idea whether they would even be interested in that as there rates of interest are so astronomical as it is.
Thanks Totallybroke got a nice new shiny diary waiting for my spends to be written and hopefully i can go quite a few days without spending anything.
Jestar thanks i have decided the cahoot loans will be paid before April if i can manage it.Fingers crossed i can do it.Became Debt Free 2009

Hi
See if there is a local credit union link, as they might allow you to take out a loan to get rid off the provident loan. THe APR is horrid but a lot better than the Provident.
This will explain them and you can find the nearest one to you.
http://www.abcul.org/page/index.cfm
A number of them offer freedom loans which are designed to get you out of the payday/provident situation. The APR is usually nearer 25% in these situations than the 11% they charge for regular savers.
Also you can reclaim any late charges that provident have added to the loan (or have been added to any of the other loans)If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I didnt think Provident applied late charges if they have they have never told me or seen any paper work that says they do. I was looking up some things on here and was wondering if my credit agreement could be challengeable because it was taken out before april 2007 also where exactly on the Cag website would i find the information if anyone knows information would be greatly appreciated.
One other thing can you apply for late charges back from Littlewoods direct, my account is up to date but for about 6months it wasnt and i inccurred charges, how easy is to get them back.Became Debt Free 2009

read about reclaiming here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/
Cards and catalogues are easier to reclaim than bank charges.
This is an initial CCA request.

Hi LostnFound
Just read through your diary and just wanted to say well done with all that you are doing.
Provident do offer a final settlement amount if you are able to pay it all off. I don't work for them just been stung by them and an ex-friend

Alioops if your around do you no if they charge for non payment or payment not paid on time like catalogues and banks do not much info around on Provident either that im not looking in the right place.:o
Okay got myself in a tizzy there but just found on their website this information:
No, unlike some high street banks and credit card companies who charge for missed payments or overdraft facilities. Provident Personal Credit prides itself on being transparent and having no extra charges.
Transparent my !!!!!!
Also found this:
Data Protection Compliance Officer
If you want to know what data we hold about you, or to have access to that data, or amend it on accordance with the "Act", please contact the DPA Officer at the above address.
So if i send them a letter like the one a couple of posts back i should get all information held on me and my account and hopefully get to see a copy of the Credit Agreement to check it for mistakes, but if not better still am i correct in saying this, that if they cant locate my credit agreements then i dont need to pay.
Gawd this is so confusing my brain is all of a caffuffle.Became Debt Free 2009
