Cutting the cost of Sky

I cancelled my sky subscription last November. Had to go to India then back to scotland blah blah I had the basic package plus disney channel. I was offered all everyone else seems to have been offered, and was told if I cancelled I would have to pay a reconnection charge should I wish to go back. I cancelled anyway. The day after my subscription ceased, I got a call offering me a 6 month full package at the cost of the basic package and no connection fee. I didn't weaken and life is soooo much better without it. The kids aren't talking with American accents anymore and I get to watch a whole program without the channels being flicked by my OH. :rotfl:0

Just off the phone to Sky. Had the family package for a few years now. Told them I wanted to cancel to save some money after Xmas and that I had a Freeview box now. They offered to keep me on the family package but with a 50% discount for 3 months then 25% for the following 9 months.

I rang sky to cancel when asked why I politley told them why pay for rubbish when I can get most of it on Freeview for nothing. Yes he said and were you aware that most freeview channels can be viewed through the sky digibox for free. Still got the Sky installation coz after a year it's mine anyway and get free telly viewing and I didn't have to pay for a freeview box and new aerial
Think about it folks make a note of what you watch and I bet 80% it's free anyway... :j"Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0 -
Has anyone got the phone number (non-0870!) that would get me straight to the Scottish call centre to save me going via India??

One thing to be careful of is that although Sky may do deals longer than 3 months, they say that "they are only allowed to give a deal for 3 months at a time", what this really means is, they will give you a deal for 3 months, then they will revert to the normal price.
They obviously hope people do not phone back after 3 months....to continue with a "deal" longer than 3 months, you may have to phone back 3 months after the initial call when the deal was offered and ask for the promised deal again.
This happened to me, I managed to get 50% off for 6 months, but had to phone back after the 1st 3 months...I was not told to phone back, I heard a small reference about only allowed to offer 3 month deals, I therefore quized further to be told I must call 3 months later for the 2nd 3 month 50% discount.
Just don't want anyone to be caught out by sneaky Sky....0
