Good Luck to your friend.
Alex was in newborn clothes by the time he left hospital (weighing 4 lbs 7 oz) as he was really tall. Your friend may be amazed how quickly he catches up.0 -
Healthy mod-preemies are normally allowed home at 35 weeks at the earliest, so im guessing he's about 5lbs by now (and 3lb'ish at birth) ? Mothercare is expensive but they do a range for 3-5lb and then the standard tiny baby 5-7.5lb. By 5lb+ most tiny baby ranges are ok. Asda have a smaller range too at much better prices. I got micro-preemie stuff off ebay really cheap, but they have loads of bigger preemie stuff too. Just click on the "new" option and plenty of stuff should come up, if they don't mind waiting a few days for the post? Wish them all the best0

He is just about 4lbs, and is growing very slowly, but the docs are happy that he is doing well.
I have found some stuff and the mum is happy at the moment, but thanks to all of you you have been very helpful.
I know he will grow very quickly and all the stuff she had bought before he was born will fit, so it is all good. She told me today she has found someone who knits tiny cardigans and hats for premmies, and the cardies cost 75p each! So that is great.
Thanks againLeopardlady

A second friend gave birth very recently to a little girl at 27weeks and she only weighed 1.8lbs at birth!
At least with all this advice i can point her in the direction of anything she needs.

Thanks again
My son was 1.10 lbs, and went down to 1.6. He's now a strapping four year old (on saturday) and is bang on absolutely average for weight and height. It's amazing how they catch up with some good nutrition.0 -
My lil guy was 1lb 3oz at his lowest, although our story isn't so happy.
Most otherwise healthy 27 weekers do really well and are home by due date. With those slightly older ones it doesn't seem to be much of a question of survival anymore as much as just complications and length of time in hospital. I hope they have a smooth journey to homecoming.0 -
Babies R Us also do a range of "tiny baby" and "premature" clothing - I bought some for DS (going back a while), although he was 5lb 1oz at his lowest so I think it was the premature size that fitted him - the tiny is even smaller.
JxxAnd it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end0 -
I am sure I saw a tiny baby range in Boots. Can't remember how they called it though... Good luck for both you friends and their babies.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0
