Premature babies

Options
Hi all i was wondering if any of you could point me in the direction of a good place to source premature baby stuff, like dummies and stuff?

This is for a friend who has a beautiful baby boy, who was born at 30 weeks, but has come home a few weeks earlier than expected, he is absolutely tiny and so she needs stuff made for tiny babies.
We live in swindon and the selection of baby shops is not huge and none has a section for premature babies.
I have the internet and have offered to help get stuff for her, but with no kids of my own (yet!) I need some help from all you experienced people out there:j

Thanks in advance

I can tell you that the premie "tiny baby" size clothes at John Lewis fit my (38 weeks) daughter at about 6 lbs but I'm guessing your friend's son is much smaller than that. My baby had zero interest in dummies (other than as a chew toy) but you can get "premie" Silk Tiny Soothers from MAM - on a 2-for-1 promo at the moment. I use MAM bottles, cups and toothbrushes and can recommend their online store.

For baby clothes try dolls clothes (no joke by the way!), especially some of the baby doll (tiny tears etc). It might sound silly but this is the advise the hospital give out today and gave out when I was born in the 70's weighing, 1lb 11oz.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

we had to buy dolls clothes for both my 2 premature cousins as they were the only thing that would fit, good luck with finding some bits leopardlady!
  • Both myself and my brother were premature babies and the only things Mum could dress us in were dolls clothes and clothes that had been knitted especially for us.

You could see if there is a Country Market near you. They often have people who make or knit childrens clothes and if they don't have premature clothes already (our local one does occasionally) they can usually make them to order for you pretty quickly.

I found Next tiny baby range good for our 32 week. How much does he weigh now? They often put on weight quite quickly to "catch up" x

mothercare do a 'tiny & early baby' range that i found good, also tesco do early baby stuff slightly smaller than mothercare you've got to really look for it though again called early baby and asda do a early baby range although i never used them.

Do a search on google - there are some superb suppliers. OUr son was born at 26 weeks and wore this tiny little wrapover sleepsuit for the first few weeks so the wires could go in and out and they could change him without getting tangled. I appreciate you don't need anything that comlpicated but the same places will do great stuff fo ryour age baby. Americans are particularly good at this.

they have great stuff for babies under 5lbs.

What weight is the baby? My DS1 was a 35 weeker and weighed 5lb5ox whereas my DS2 was a 33 weeker but weighed a huge 5lb12oz and between Mothercare, boots etc there were plenty of clothes to fit them. Soothers you just have to find the smallest ones you can. I used NUK, don't know if you still get them though. Boots used to stock them, they are flat across the mouth so not bulky.

Try putting an ad in freecycle, not many parents of premature babies sell stuff on eBay as the clothes get used for those life-like doll monstrocities.

And best nappies I found were tesco premature, cheapest, best fit and most comfortable for baby.
