    hello

we went bankrupt 6th march and i too found completing the soa difficult and i couldnt get my head round it either!!

on my soa i put my full income, child benefit and any tax credits. then i got some scrap paper and worked out my expenditure, i need my car for work so i put down all the car expenditure on my soa, i put utility bills on both and groceries on both, contents ins, t.v license, council tax also on both forms (the same amount). then, we have 4 children so i put £20 on mine and £20 on hubbys for haircuts and added any other outgoings, then i added the expenditure up and deducted my income and child benefit, that then left me with the figure i needed to put down for my husbands contribution.
i just reversed it for my husbands soa, i had my or interview 2 weeks ago and everything was fine she didnt query anything, although she did say we couldnt have monthly outgoings for dental etc but she added it into our holiday fund so not alll that bad.

    i hope this makes sense,

Hi thanks for working out contributions, total expenditure of £2025 is all household + my expenses but does not include OH expenses

Hi I am very confused if we do a joint SOA we only have a surplus of £250 so I cann't understand where the high surplus is from single SOA joint SOA is £2479 income including CB is £2730 which I understand they do not take CB into account

Sorry for being a pest the expenditure of £2025 is just mine there is another £444 for my OH which is next to my figures therefore I don't think he will any surplus if that's how its calculated I think we will have a total surplus between us of £311 if not less

Queen, it was only meant to be a very basic calculation - I had no way of knowing that there was child benefit in there as it simpy states benefits, and not what kind they are . I thought you had shown the total household expenditure rather than done 2 SOAs side by side, which looking back on it I can now see, but must admit to me it looks very confusing.

However, you should be able to work it out for yourself now you know the percentage contribution from you and your OH, and any tweaks you make to your SOA can be taken into account. I think it would be best if I don't do any more calculations for you as I wouldn't want to confuse matters any further.
