Hi, I am glad I have already done this as I'm really confused having read that lot! My OH and I both work and have always just had one big pot. I earn more than my Oh so I put his outgoings pro-rata i.e. i put 285 rent on his and 485 on mine = 725. I did this with all outgoings and put incomings on his as his wages and no contribution from me and on mine my wages with no contribution from him. On section 13 I showed the totals of incomings and outgoings. I'm guessing people will be even more confused now! Anyway nobody has even mentioned it and we are now waiting for the letter post OR interview to confirm no IPA and OR said probably ED.

XHTB and I went BR on the same day, but we did separate SOA. As in Tiger's first post, we listed household expenditure in full on each SOA, then put down the other person's contribution. I didn't get an IPA but I think they are (still) chasing him for one.

BR is individual, and even if the money goes into one big pot, you know how much of it is 'yours' from payslips, etc. so it should be possible to work out quite easily what the contributions are. If we had done ours together, we would most definitely have both got an IPA, and as we separated shortly after going BR this would have caused untold grief.

    Just my experience, and HTHs

List all household expenses and total them
Calculate your income and your OH's income - if roughly the same, then probably 50/50 contribution; if not the same then work out the percentages
Their contribution on your SOA is #%
Your contribution on their SOA is #%

Queen, you need to calculate your total household expenditure.

Based on the income figures you gave, you would pay 55% and your OH would pay 45% of that total.

That should enable you to calculate the contribution you both pay.
