Andy, can you be a bit more specific?
Do you have separate Modem & Router? If Router is not plugged in, how are you getting any connection.
I guess you mean you only plug in to use it? It's possible that BT? never get to work out your optimum speed.
It's also possible that you need to tinker with the bell wire, see other threads re Speed.
Cheers

Generally, routers would be on all the time. 880kb/s is ridiculously slow - did you get this from a speed checking website like http://www.speedtest.net?
You could try plugging the router into the BT master socket (i.e. the "main" socket where the line comes in to the house) to see if that helps. Try unplugging everything else from your phone line (even in other sockets), and maybe try another microfilter to see if the one you're using is faulty.
Failing that, I'd ask your ISP to re-sync your line. If they do this, you will need to leave your router on for 7 to 14 days while the maximum speed your line can handle is determined.0 -
i did use speedtest.net tried the master socket, same result. Iam on sky so using their wireless router. I do unplug it when i dont use it, does everyone else leave theirs plugged in ?0

Yep - always leave mine turned on. If you've tested the speed over a wired (not wireless) connection in the master socket, then I'd complain to your ISP and see what they can do.0

OP Either post your router stats on here or over on https://www.skyuser.co.uk
You will give those who know a better chance of helping you.
BTW You are not on Sky Connect by any chance? That gum you like is coming back in style.0
