Visa Electron

New User - please be gentle with me...

Have you noticed that easyJet and Ryanair charge for all card transaction except Visa Electron?

It set me thinking why this one?

Well, the answer seems to be it is virtually impossible to get one. Google search on Visa Electron gives a list of issuing banks yet when you go to their respective site they don't issue them.

Does anyone know a UK bank etc that actually issues them and is there a charge?

They are normally studenty/low income cards and no there is not normally a charge for them.

    or 12y.o.+ children cards.
BTW Visa Electron is a debit card while Visa can be either debit or credit card ...

Sorry meant to say there is no charge but you do have to pass a credit check, god know why though because there is no credit facility

Barclays have one too. NatWest and HSBC do SOLO, all other banks' "sub-prime" debit card is VISA Electron as far as I know. You won't see a product called "VISA Electron" on the bank's web site - you will need to apply for a current account on which a VISA Electron card will be issued

    Hope to help
