My OR interview today
Comments

He said if he recommends a BRO which at first he said unlikely and then at the end he said he had to go away in a quiet room and re read and make a decision and he was in the middle what to do. I am confused, anyone else experienced this. He said it could be 6 months away before a decision is made.
I just don't want to go through today again.0 -

I never heard another thing until i changed my job and then i had to fill in a new i&e. Apart from that it was very very quiet. I am tired now but i will PM you in the morning;) Try to forget all about it. Not easy i know;) but the longer it goes quiet for the better you will feel.DxFree impartial debt advice available from: National Debtline - Tel: 0808 808 4000 | The Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) - Tel: 0800 138 1111 | Find your local Citizens Advice Bureau

Just thinking of you NIDA and sending you hugs, we have all done daft things and we are all here for you. Even a BRO isn't the end of the world, and you'll get through it somehow

Thank you.
Its not the actual BRO if I get one that bothers me, its just I feel I am in limbo, he never discussed my outgoings or incomings really and did not say anything about a new SOA or any IPA, all he said was that my husband should seek debt advice as we have little left. Does that mean I will not get an IPA or a new SOA to do.
All he wants money wise was the tax I now get in my bank to take it in and pay them at the beginning of April.
Half way through the interview I broke down, he said that I had to stop blaming myself and my husband should accept some responsibility.
Its the thought of waiting everyday for a phone call or letter from him and being called in for a face to face about the blasted loan. I wish I had paid some of my creditors with it. As I have told him when I accepted it, and it was not straight away, I had no intention of going br.
Your views on my situation or your similar experience would be very welcome.
I havent slept all night and look like a frog from crying. Right now I felt better when I was juggling creditors.0 -

Hope you are ok - hindsight is a wonderful thing and you did what you thought was right at the time re the loan so don't beat yourself up. I'm in a similar position as I took a new credit card out last year for a balance transfer then ended up using the card I paid off for general living so that is maxed out too now so I will prob be in the same position as you. What i'm trying to say is everyone who goes bankrupt is there for the same reason and i'm sure will have done things they regret, you've faced up to your responsiblities and your should be proud of yourself. I agree with the others in a few days the interview will not seem as bad and fingers crossed your won't get a bro anyway xxI cant change the past, but the future is mine to play with!

What is a bru/bro?0

Hi NIDA,
I think many of us have felt we could have handled the interview better than we did. But your OR sounds like a nice guy - I liked the quip about it being better that you wore mascara than he did - and in view of his comments about your husband's actions it seems unlikely that he'll be too harsh. Don't forget that if you think of something you should have mentioned in the interview and didn't mention, you can always phone or email or write. It'll probably be a few weeks yet before he concludes his examination and types up the report.

ps Bailsey, a BRU/O is basically a slap on the the wrist for behaving irresponsibly or fraudulently or for running up debt through gambling, and it extends the period in which you're restricted from obtaining credit etc for between (I think) 3 to 15 years, the 15 years period being for super-bad behaviour. if you have a look at the insolvency service website, there's a proper explanation there.0 -
Thanks LilyBart
What was weird was he said really early on that I can still get credit as long as I tell the people, I said I did not want it, then towards the end he said credit cards are not a bad thing as long as they are used sensibly. Three times I stressed that they are. He said I may be given a BRO but then he spoke about future credit, which looking at the mess I got in, surprised me. He did not say I would be foolish to do it again, I said I cannot go through this again and I never want it again. I also told him that my three children, one is in her twenties the other two are teenagers, have had a stern talking to and I will make damn sure they never get in this mess and hopefully I have saved the country from 3 more people in debt and a mess, he laughed.
I am also sure that he said I can buy the BI from him, anyone else been told that.0
