My OR interview today

9.30 today is telephone interview with the OR, what questions do they normally ask, will I be told what is happening with the house, any IPA etc or is this just a chance for them to check through my soa and then go away and review it and then contact me again. Waited 6 weeks since br for this interview, just being impatient. In a dream world it would be nice if this was the end until my discharge date/:eek:

The OR will go through your SOA with you. He will go through the debts and ask why you took it out, when it was taken out etc.

Usually they won't tell you about houses etc. till later but because it has been so long between court and interview, you never know.

Make sure you have a copy of your petition with you and a pen and paper to make notes of any questions that occour to you during the interview and to make notes. There will be times when there is silence as the OR writes things down, don't attempt to fill these silences with talk, only answer what has been asked, don't waffle. Have a glass of water with you as well.

    Above all don't waffle.

  • I knew I shouldnt have worn mascara.

Was not scared for the interview, always a bad sign. Itwas horrible at the beginning, lasted 2 hours. He started off asking basic questions, middle of it I broke down, wanted to know about the advice given, who benefited from the remortgage. It was mainly my husband but that has all gone. We had a chat about my husband and he said that my husband should accept some of the responsibility even though I had used the money for basic living expenses.

Has done a drive by valuation, its in more negative equity than I said but he would not give the amount. The house he is not interested in. If I do not get someone to buy BI then in 3 years if there is any equity we can get someone to buy OR share. I am sure he said even I can buy the OR interest for a £1 now.

As I accepted a £11,800 in May2 008 that was offered to me by Barclays, I stressed to him that I did not ask for it. I was desperate and have always wanted to to do the right thing. never ever wanted or thought I would be here today. He said he will have to go away and look at my file again and at the moment he is in the middle of the fence, it would carry a BRO for 5 years if I get one.

But I did have a chat to him and he has basic told me to stop blaming myself, my husband has to look at his affairs and sort them out.

I did at the end thank him and at the end the mood became lighter, I told him I should not have worn mascara and he said it was better than him wearing it. I said to him do what you want I am just glad of the help and thankfully they do not give us lashings or put in stocks anymore.

Rang husband in tears and he is going to ring CCCS for help. I thougth the br day was bad I was not prepared for this. He was a nice man don't get me wrong, I am just bad at explaining why I did what I did, I had got used to burying my head was desperate to keep on top.
  • Sorry to hear you feel it didn't go well, but at least you're over another hurdle. I'm sure the guys here will offer you good advice and support. Keep your chin up!

I felt exactly the same and i cried buckets too:o . It is never easy trying to explain why we did what we did, especailly to a stranger. I think the OR interview is the pinnacle of the whole bc thing.A very emotional time.

In a few days you WILL look back at the interview and think "actually it was not that bad". The build up ect takes it toll on us all girl. All that emotion is better out than in so go sob it all out. dX

  • Well done nida,

Perhaps it is good for us to expect the unexpected with these OR interviews. It seems to vary from OR to OR as to what experience you get....
I suppose they are only human .......aren't they?

You are slowly making your way through it all and in the home straight now..... just think of it as a cleansing experience, getting it all out in the open and then saying goodbye to the whole blessed shebang!

Just like the Ricky Martin song ....... "shebangs, shebangs" :D

Please excuse my awful sense of humour!
