Seller being unreasonable

I bought some connectors for a Sky ariel and when I received them they were different to what they were shown in the picture. I sent an email to the buyer saying can we send them back and get a refund. No response.

My brothersent them back anyway, thinking he was busy from Xmas rush. Sent him another email. No reply. 2 weeks after sending them back I left negative.

Surprise, surprise, got an email from them. They tried to make out we bought the wrong item, but I said the product was different from the picture. He phoned me up and said he'd refund if a comment was took off the feedback, so I did, but still left it negative (they never even asked to change it from negative to neutral/positive). I got an angry response. He tried phoning me 4 times. I didn't want to speak to him as he was being rather aggressive.

Well, now he's starting an unpaid item dispute against me!

I've responded explaining the situation. Is there anything else I can do? Will Ebay be on my side or his?

If you paid by PayPal then you will be fine, you have proof positive that you paid for the items. But, you may have problems further down the line if eBay ask you to return the cables before a refund is issued, as you no longer have the leads, and I assume that you have no proof that you posted them back unless you were forward thinking enough to send them by Recorded Delivery.

  • As above.

    Did you pay via paypal?

Did you send back the item via a trackable method.

You can report them to eBay for f/b manipulation & seller non performance.

Make sure you call your phone company to have their no blocked.

I paid via Paypal. My brother just sent it back by regular post. It was just connectors. The total cost inc P&P was £1.97, so there was no point sending back recorded.

I will be reporting them if they continue. They have had 6 negs this month (last time I looked), and I've got 100% feedback (as a seller as well). So hopefully that'll help too.

was there any point returning these at all? if total cost inc p&p was only £1.97, did it not cost nearly that to return them?

50pish I think. It was under 100g and was a small packet. I can't believe he's starting a dispute over it. He's very unreasonable and wont accept responsibility.

There isn't much you can do then, you do not have the leads so cannot prove that they were the wrong ones, and you cannot prove that you sent them back.

At least you can prove that the item was paid for, so the non-payer dispute is dead in the water, but don't count on getting a refund or the leads that you originally paid for.

Sounds like the complete spoon I had to deal with a few years back as hes still trading and he was very lets say explicit in his emails as he wasnt happy with the neg I had left him.

Obviously I cant name the seller here but the last bit of his id is paul.

I don't suppose that happens to be the same person is it?

Unlikely anything will happen now as its years ago and ebay wasnt interested in the emails I sent them surprise surprise.

But as already mentioned you have already paid for the items through paypal so im assuming hes refunded you somewhere along the lines so he could open a dispute?
