Yes, agree, it's daft.
Though I can't see the other networks reacting to it really as they still make money on any call carried to 3. The real problem could be network congestion as people use Sop the Clock or 1815 to keeps lines open with no talk traffic, in order to clock up credit on 3.
On 3, with the cash top ups. How do you know how much talk time you get for say £10? I looked at their site and couldn't see a tariff specific.0 -
I don't think there is a specific amount of time. Outside of call bundles, the call rates are (or were) as listed in kai666's post above.
I wouldn't be surprised if the 5p income does not apply on calls from 3 numbers.
I just spoke to Ofcom, and there is no rule against the other networks increasing call charges to 3. I think I've seen this on some foreign networks, but can't remember which0 -

Also from the register:
"Something similar was offered by [major cellco] here, in Romania, for a student-oriented service. What happened was that students signed up for the service and then put up classified ads offering non-existent apartments, cars or other merchandise at too-good-to-be-true prices, asking to be called on their mobiles. As far as I know, [major cellco] had to withdraw the offer."I think....0 -
If you get the Motorola L6 phone from here......
OSPS
which is 'free' after cashback over 12 months, you'll have 2000 off peak minutes (+100 texts) with which to call your 3 PAYG phone. This will then generate £100 worth of credit per month on the PAYG, which you can then convert to texts and any-time, x-net minutes.....
x-net mins @ 30p/min - so lets say 300 anytime mins (£90)
texts @ 10p each - so about 100 texts (£10)
Unless, of course, when they do introduce this new policy, there is a limit to the amount you can claim.0 -

So if the tariff does not alter, you will have fewer x-net minutes than you could have got a totally 'free' contract after cashback on a different all-day tariff arrangement, with less messing about
not only that - the WePay credit is only earned for 30 days, is applied when a £10 top-up is added, and only lasts 30 days0 -
I can still see the offer - on the home page near the bottom....
Motorola L6 on O2 - 12months free line rental (12 month contract)
However, I didn't realise that the 2000 mins off peak were a promo period only deal, which I'm guessing is 3 months - it then reverts back to 1000 mins (+ 100 texts) for the remainder - which still generates a potential £50 on 3's PAYG = 166 mins anytime.
Still, 3 months @ £100 followed by 9 @ £50 credit..... I can't find any current deals which (after cashback) give you free line rental and anytime x-net minutes - which this would seem to do.
Subject, of course, to the terms of the WePay offer allowing 'unlimited' credit etc.0 -
I just edited my post - it will cost you £120 to apply this earned credit to the 3 WePay schemeJonni2bad wrote:Subject, of course, to the terms of the WePay offer allowing 'unlimited' credit etc.
... and I think you are mixing up 2 offers on Orange tariffs and the O2 one
on Orange one has 1000 off-peak minutes to Orange and landlines, 12 months @ £20 cashback; the other is 1000 x-net off-peak minutes - 11 months @ 99p, 1 month @ £25
the O2 deal is only to O2 mobiles and landlines, so you will be charged maybe 30 or 40p per minute to call 30 -

So you mean you would sit there for 2000 mins a month and phone yourself?????
or am I misreading what you mean?0
