Ebay Iphone (2g) on Vodafone contract
Hi,
I have searched through the exisitng topics on these bords, but can't find anything that resolves the following question(s!)..
I have bought a 2g Iphone from ebay that has been factory reset according to the seller. I am on a Vodafone contract and have found the required setings to get the Iphone setup with answerphone etc.
The seller has indicated that I will need an 02 payg sim to register the phone with Itunes. This is where I am confused. I would like the latest firmware on the phone (2.2) and have found how to build custom firmware and unlock the phone - I think. Is it a case of registering the phone with itunes using the 02 sim, then performing all the unlock bits?
An additional confusion is that my wife has an Ipod touch, not sure if that will be affected or not...
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

I think you will find yakyak that the Ipone is locked to the 02 network and cannot (legally) be used with your VF sim.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0

You don't need to register with 02 on Itunes. You can unlock it straight away using unlock software such as Quickpwn. It will not affect your wifes Ipod touch as that will have a seperate backup file on Itunes. Be careful when you do the unlock though. It can be a pain in the backside if you don't follow the unlock instructions 100% to reset the phone.0 -
Thanks for the response. From what I have read elsewhere, do I have to put the phone in flight mode to use itunes?
I'm thinking of using the following http://www.iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=1880.
Itunes already knows about the phone at step 2, so again, I'm slightly confused!0
