Romantic Suggestions

Options
My lovely guy is turning 50 in March and I'd love to book something really special for his birthday. I had thought of booking into the Witchery as they have special rooms (although at £300 a night I'm wondering if its worth it and I've heard you can hear the sound of tour buses outside if you pick the wrong room!) but I'd like to make it really special  so I'm prepared to spend a bit. I'm open to suggestions either within Edinburgh/surrounding area or going away overnight somewhere but something really different.

  • Mmmm can't see what his hobbies have to do with a romantic night! I could always dance naked around the golf course but I don't think this was what I had in mind!!! tee hee

I've never been, but I understand the Witchery is the ultimate shag pad.

Alternatively, if your into good food what about dinner in Martin Wishart followed by a stay in Malmaison.

or dinner at harvey Nicks Forth Floor followed by a stay at The Glasshouse hotel

Yes I think you're right about the Witchery being the ultimate....I've looked at Trip Advisor and a few people have said that it can be fairly noisy, not the obvious I hasten to add, more just people walking about and traffic din outside. Not what you want to hear at 8am whilst sipping champagne breakfast! Agree with H Nicks and The Glasshouse they are both fab but was hoping for more unusual suggestions, rather than just a meal etc.

What a spa day for you both at The Sheraton?

Good suggestion but I think he'd find that all a bit too girly. However, we're on the right lines thinking outside the box!

You never know - he might just like it!

What about this then you do the spa and he has a choice of things to try out

I would honestly really thank my wife for a meal at Martin Wisharts. We went for our 5th anniversary a few years ago & it really was wonderful & a great experience.

Otherwise what about a luxury cottage up north somewhere
  • What about an one hour floating session at the Floatarium in Stockbridge (they have two tanks so you can both go at the same time) followed by a nice lunch in Stockbridge. That's thinking outside the box, isn't it?

Are you not advised to refrain from eating for a while after a "float"

I seem to remember that from my first one but been a while so I may be wrong.
Also it can seriously freak people out so may not have the desired effect - although personally I think they are brilliant - I love the experience
