I'm certainly glad I've tried to remain anonymous then, if this place is getting much more coverage. If my next door neighbour (a Mr. S. Clarkson of 42 Bolton Street, Dudley) ever found out about my circumstances, I think my cover might be blown.0

I think we all saw this coming ..... post Christmas realisation of just how bad things have got for a lot of people and the increasing awareness that there is help and advice available.
I have certainly spread the word about MSE.

I agree it was bound to happen and towards the end of last year i thought the board started to get busier but yes the last few days seem to have been manic.
I still believe this is just the start and yesterday new what with job losses and companies going into administration really confirmed it for me anyway.
I also spread the word about MSE as everybody is great on this board and so supportive and i for one enjoy after my experience helping others get through a very rough time.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Agreed....
I know that a lot of people think that the country is not experiencing as hard a time as the media makes out and that it is being hyped up.
Personally, I think the daily news that more firms are folding and job losses are spiralling proves this not to be the case.
We are in for a very hard year if not longer, and I suspect that there are a number of companies like my employer, that although still solvent will look to cut back as much as they can ..... redundancies, overtime, reduced hours, freezing vacancies etc and many people will not be getting the same monthly income that they have been used to receiving, and yet will still have to pay their monthly bills.
For a lot of people this will prove impossible, I suspect.

Startagain i could not agree more.
My parents came down over christmas and i asked my dad how things were where he works and he said they had orders but like he pointed out they can be cancelled and thats what has happened last week when they went back to work so this week there will be redundentcies. I know as you said people think that the media is hyping this up but we are only hearing about the big companies whilst there are thousands of small companies going to the wall daily....:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

It is difficult to keep up, Max. I've just skim-read the last 13 or so pages to bring myself up to speed. At this rate we're going to need a daily news bulletin on the board. But K2nga's right to say that the rush started towards the end of last year. I don't think there's any exaggeration in the media - aside from anything else, all the newspapers are laying people off too.0

i work for one of the big companies and they are talking about moving forward and the business growing (its a bank - judge for yourself! ) etc etc etc but I really believe that there are going to be some serious redundancies, they are just planning it all behind the scenes just now and planning their excuses so they are all prepared when the time comes to announce it to the world.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0
