I've found my Owl extremely useful. It allowed me to confirm that my electricity meter is accurate (I had some high electricity bills and was beginning to seriously wonder if the meter was wonky; the Owl confirms that we really do use a lot of electricity
).
All I've got to do now is figure out why the house takes 0.200kWh even when everything possible appears to be turned off.... :mad:0 -
I've just got one, and discovered my induction hob was using 100W on standby, and my microwave 60W. The dishwasher that I tend to run overnight or when leaving for work uses 30W once finished and is simply waiting to be switched off!0

Either you have set the Owl up incorrectly or you have a number of broken appliances. There is no way a microwave uses 60W in standby.0 -

Anyone have an answer to this? I did change mine to 240v but changed it back to the default of 230v as it appeared to be over estimating slightly.0 -
Some advice please, used the OWL meter for 10 days - total KWH is 114, yet electricity meter shows 417 KWH , any suggestions as to what is wrong ?
Many thanks in advance

You are either on the neutral feed rather than the live one, or the two faces of the current sensor are not mated correctly. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I use about 114 kWh in 10 days, 11kWh a day, do you think you are using 41kWh a day in electricity?0 -
Allison,
Living in a cold apartment with only electric storage heating last December I had average usage of 22 kWh day and 60 kWh on night tariff.
Not hard to achieve such consumption, really.0 -
