What can I do with the fat that came off the roast chicken at the weekend which is sitting in my fridge or should I get rid of it?
Thanks

Do you mean the juices from the bottom of the tin that set hard and go white (ish) in the fridge?? If so you can use it to cook your next roast in, or roast potatoes.
If you dont fancy it yourself you can feed it to the birds.I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are – Milton Berle0 -
I used my turkey fat from Christmas to make roasties the other day and they were lovely and golden and crisp. (I froze the fat in little tubs in the freezer and it froze and defrosted fine)0

I think most poultry fat is meant to last at least 6 months (I hope so anyway!):happyhear0

I save all meat fats in the fridge and freezer. You can use it straight from the freezer, just hack a bit off.
I always feel guilty about saving something that is supposed to be bad for you(I need to lose weight),but then,I feel guilty for throwing it away,it's such a waste.Bacon fat is particularly good for frying potatoes in-yum.0 -

If you scrape the fat off the top of the container you might find some jelly underneath, you can use that in gravy or soup. Put the fat in a small saucepan with a cup of water and heat it gently till it bubbles a bit (careful it might spit a bit). Strain the water and fat into a heatproof bowl and let it set. All the remaining crusty bits from the fat will sink to the bottom and you can throw that away (or shove it in soup!). Then put the clean fat back into the pan and heat it gently till the bubbles stop coming - then you have evaporated all the water. If the fat is pure and clean it will stay fresh longer.
I got that from a Marguerite Patten book and you get lovely clean fat that stays fresh for ages.
Meat fat is nice for roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings. If you can't use it all up you can put it out for the birds to eat in winter.0 -

I don't get a huge amount of fat from roast chicken but quite bit of jelly.
I generally make a stock with the bones, let it cool and skim off the fat that settles on top. And the jelly is all mine:D (for the soup)I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
I soak bread and seeds in it and put it out for the birds, they love it but I sometimes feel a bit guilty, is it like cannibalism??0
