How to get out of tiscali

Hi
My friend has tiscali since last june, she signed up for the free dial up which she used then cancelled after 5 days because she was upgraded to broadband. She was charged for this for three months as well as the broadband. It took us 3 weeks to get the boradband to work with not much help from the tiscali team.
Since then they have switched her back and forward from dial up to broadband and back again without warnning on several occasions. Now she is having sever problems with her connection and has been for three days. When we called tiscali the problem helpline was too busy and it cuts you off, it doesn't put you in a que although we could get straight through to the sales team.
Is there anyway a loophole or something to get out of this contract as they are impossible to use!!!

Tiscali is harder to get out from than Colditz.
They are notorious for refusing to let you leave and they have been warned several times. Do not touch them with a barge pole.0 -
Heres something the offshore customer services wont give you.....a number for tech support in the UK.

Hi
She needs a MAC Code, phone them and tell them that they are not fulfilling their part of the contract, and that she's going to contact her local trading standards officer. Be firm!!!
But she needs her MAC Code, once she's got that she has 30days to find another isp.
Hope this helps0 -
Can't you see the mac code (address) when you connect via a router?
Or is that a different thing altogether?
Tiscali customer with no complaints here...so far

Different thing - that's a Machine Address Code.Bert_Anderson wrote:Can't you see the mac code (address) when you connect via a router?

I've used Tiscali broadband for about two years now and I think their service is actually excellent. Setting up the modem etc was a breeze using the step-by-step wizard they provided. The only times I've had problems connecting it has been due to problems with my own set-up (i.e. a fault on the phone line which only allowed outgoing calls and another time it was my firewall preventing connection). Tiscali's technical people were very helpful, they were very patient and kept trying different tests until they found and sorted the problem. They also allow you to switch between their different packages without penalty so that you can take advantage of new pricing offers, faster speeds etc which other ISP's might not let you do until your initial contract period is completed. Only complaint is that the help line is an 0870 (but at least it's not an 090 like my previous ISP). My suggestion to Carli's friend is to persevere to sort out her problems - moving to another ISP might be even more disastrous.0
