Mobile Rainbow - Any good?

Options
Hi All,
I am new to this site, but it seems very informative from the outset. I have searched high and low for more information on http://www.mobilerainbow.co.uk as a supplier of mobile phones on PAYG and contracts. I have made a few phone calls to them to try and see if anything seems fishy because their deals almost sound too good to be true! No other like company will pricematch them (and frankly they cant believe how they can offer such deals). Actually to be a bit more precise they are offering a K608i on 3's video talk and text 1100 with 11 months free line rental (12 month contract). The other offers on there do seem rather average. Back to the calls i made to them... they seem quiet consistent (i was merely checking that what one telephone operative is consistent with another). For more confidence I rang 3 to check that the parent company (http://www.msols.com/) was a registered '3 dealer'... they are. Msols Ltd have 3 or 4 websites and have been around for a bit, i'm just a bit cautious that they have so many websites doing the same thing, trading from one call centre. Also, 3 couldn't tell me if they had any bother with MSols in the past.

I remember when e2save were first starting out and they did similar deals i.e. 9 months free on a 12 month contract, their deals aren't too good since they were taken under CPW wings.

To remain brief! Has anyone had an experience with MobileRainbow?

Cheers,
Bill

Hi Bill - did a quick Google search and the only thing I found of note was this forum chat. It's a bit out-of-date (May '05), and the K608i does seem to be being discounted on other sites.

    Thanks for that Ka7e,
I think (hope) they have improved their T's & C's since that was written although they do have dodgy grammar still. Not sure about insurance being mandatory to redeem cash backs. I've exhausted their FAQ's and everything else and can't find anything relating to this so, unless it's hidden, they must have altered this. The order process is carried out over a https connection now. So that's slightly more reassuring.

Think i'll place an order and see what happens! plus, i'll see if they will send me full and precise details of the cashback redemption process in writing.

Well I proceeded to purchase a mobile from mobilerainbow.co.uk. It arrived as they said it would. So it's all good so far, although they did insist on activating the SIM prior to sending out the phone, not quiet sure why.

I have asked them to email me exact details of how to claim cashback, because the website just says send them bills 6, 9, and 12 whereas the documentation gives a fax number and says they need proof that I have been paying bills regularly over 180 days (6 months). Anyway, we'll see what the email says that they send back to me (apparently in todays' technological age it takes only 2 days for them to email me this info! amazing isn't it). Needless to say I am within my rights to send it back to them in 14 days, so if their customer services aren't up to scratch then bye bye K608i!

If anybody is interested in buying from these guys then email me and i'll scan and email you a copy of the terms and conditions they sent me, pretty straight forward.

On the surface they seem ok, just hope I can say the same when it's cashback time.

  • I've had a lot of dealings with Mobile Rainbow, but only as an affiliate. They appear to be genuine. It's a fact that the deals they offer are NOT extraordinary. Similar deals can be found on other sites and the majority of Mobile Rainbows deals are beaten by the likes of Onestop, e2save, Mobile Outlet, Simply 3G or Buymobilephones. I expect them to be no less reliable as any other online dealer but there is a small risk with any cash back offer, time will tell.

their deals on 3 are far superior than any of the other mainstream ones, but after cellular first or whatever they were called last year i worry they may go bust. i need a new contract asap as my phone broke and 3 refused to fix it

Anyone actually checked their wording on cashback. It says your account will be credited. IIRC dial-a-phone credit your 3 account, and if this lot do the same, its no longer a good deal imho.
