I'm almost afraid to ask this but have I read this wrong or are you only telling us about this problem now because you're not getting the 'prize' you blagged?

Hi Munchkim and Baby,

I hadn't blagged a prize back in December and never for one moment believed what she was saying. I pointed this (entirely uncalled for and unexpected) comment out in my post to show the manner in which the overall competition was being handled. Throughout all of this time, I have never once imagined that a phone call or two would result in a prize being issued, but I did hope that it would urge the promoters to speed up the judging process.

I am sure the majority who took part are glad you have informed them of this. I dont enter comps like this but if i had, i would be very interested to know this....

As you said in your first msg 'The woman I spoke to even unprofessionally said that she would have to 'fix' it'. - So that tells me, you know it isnt right. Hope it gets sorted out, dodgy promotors are everywhere it seems xx

Just wondered if anyone had any knowledge or thoughts on the following.

I received a letter from Healthy Magazine (the Magazine produced by/for Holland and Barrett) to say "Congratulations! - I had won a prize worth £200 in their competition" The prize was a lightbox - and I was really pleased and in fact emailed them and said I was really looking forward to getting it.

Came home today to a msg asking me to call - seems they made a mistake - the winners letter was sent to all 7 people instead of just to 1 and a runner up prize letter to 6. Guess what - I am a runner up and get a measly light bulb and by way of consolation - two free issues (£1.50 each) of their magazine.

Not only do I think that's a pretty poor deal and reflects badly on both the magazine company and Holland & Barrett, but I wondered how I stand legally having received this letter and then not the prize?

Any comments gratefully received -has this happened to anyone else before? or are any of the other five on MSE?

Sorry to read this Celia, someone had a similar problem on the I WonX3 forum, you should search for it as she got it sorted to her advantage. Just a heads up that you have posted this in the wrong place, this forum is for comps only.

Hi everyone,

Can anyone remember just before Christmas a comp being posted which was a survey of your favourites throughout the year? (Favourite bands, singers programmes etc) For some reason it just came back to me - I remember it was the actual host of the comp that posted it and he was going to make it an annual thing. I just wanted to go have a gander at the results... (does that make me an anorak? ) can't for the life of me find it though!
