As Marty J says find out the cost to fit a decent aerial and then you might be able to get Freeview - if you are in such an area

It may be for your viewing needs, it certainly isn't for mine, I far prefer Freeview ( via aerial ).

Hmm, just thought, I could cancel 02 for £50 and switch to Virgin and it wouldn't work out too expensive, plus you get £50 credit from them.

Anyone have an opinion on doing this? At least I'd be guaranteed decent reception through cable!

We bought hubbys Dad a freesat dish and box for xmas for £40 as he couldn't get freeview. Hubby installed it so no cost to us there and if he ever moved we would take it down and he could take it with him.

Don't know how much they cost these days as it was a special offer in B&Q at the time we bought it.

The situation is very confusing but Freeview, Freesat and Freesat from Sky are three seperate and different products so we need to be careful not to create confusion by using brands as generic terms.

That wasn't a " Freesat " unit, it was a " free to air " one.

Not the same thing.

have you found out how much it would cost from virgin, you said you were only staying the flat for 12 months so you would have to find out if you couldmove the service to a new address

I know they aren't the same thing and I know that what we bought for FIL was freesat, not free to air.

Sorry you are wrong, B&Q have never sold a " Freesat " Receiver, they have only ever sold a cheap Free to Air Receiver.


Which, as I have said before, is not the same thing.
