OK - all wires now removed. and a new photo of socket 2 added.
Please could you tell me from top to bottom left to right which colour to put where 1,2,3,4 - 5,6,7,8

you've already been told
personally, i would connect each cable to the sockets, otherwise you create what is known as a short. gigabit ethernet does use more than just a couple of cables, so if you upgraded in the future, you'd support an even faster LAN
1 -orange/white
2 - orange
3 - green/white
4 - blue
5 - blue/white
6 - green
7 - brown/white
