LAN Wiring - Help Needed

I am trying to sort out my LAN cable from one room to another. I had it working fine, with my Draytek 2600W router, but it died, so I have replaced it with a Netgear DG934PN, and the wire connection I have from one bedroom to another did not then work. I asked at the time and was told that the Draytek probably handled the wiring either way, but the Netgear woud only handle it one way
sorry technical on Lan wiring not my baby. I did try to change some of the wires around by reading on the net, the biggest problem is it is not the same actual LAN socket at each end, and they give you two options for wiring When I tried to get to one socket, it was under the desk and had to give in,and work wirelesly up to now. We have just moved the desk to have a clean and sort out, and I can now get to the socket.
So I though if I put pictures of the two socket inners on here, some kind person would tell me what to put where, as always politely.
Socket1
The confusion is that it shows two different ways to do the brown & white/brown and does not show the blue & white/bl
Socket2
Please be gentle with me.

Hi, not sure I can be much help but I'll give it a go...
Cable: The order in the plug for ethernet would normally be orange/white, orange, green/white, blue, blue/white, green, brown/white, brown.
Sockets: The 2 options for socket wiring are for complying with 2 different standards - I don't know the details off hand but the school network where I'm a techie uses type B throughout. Is there a second set of diagrams obscured by the glare at the top of your picture? The diagram shown only accounts for 4 connectors, there should be 8.“Things that I felt absolutely sure of but a few years ago, I do not believe now. This thought makes me see more clearly how foolish it would be to expect all men to agree with me.” - Jim Rohn0 -

The colours go to the same connectors whatever they actually look like! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Ok I have updated my original mail with Socket2
Would it be better if I take wires out of this and show the colour symbols?

If you simply connect the green & white/green and the orange & white/orange to the correct tags it will work, as the other wires are not actually used. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Guilty as charged, I have bitten the bullet and removed all he wires from Socket one and taken a picture of both sides, they will be found under Socket1 in my op.
Thanks

Thanks expresso, I expected something like this, so am I better connecting the other colours or just cutting them off at both ends back to where the sheathing stops?Member #8 of the SKI-ers Club

It doesn't really make much difference as they are not used but I would just leave them at the same length and simply not terminate them. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
OK - all wires now removed. and a new photo of socket 2 added.
Please could you tell me from top to bottom left to right which colour to put where 1,2,3,4 - 5,6,7,8
Thanks
