  • We pay £56 per term for a weekly small group 30 minute lesson for DD2.

You cannot live as I have lived an not end up like me.

Oi you lot - please :heart:GIVE BLOOD  - you never know when you and yours might need it back! 67 pints so far.
  • We used to pay £75 per school year for 20 mins a week at my son's junior school (there was no extra charge for a second instrument, he did trombone too). Now he is at senior school, he does 15 mins acoustic/classical and 15 mins electric, and there is no charge at his senior school.
He also has a 30 min private lesson each week with a private guitar tutor and we pay £12 for this. I think your school is taking liberties! (although it may be because of the timing of the lesson, being before school). There again, have you seen the price of guitar exams? Be prepared if he really gets into it!

On another note, most schools don't tell you that you can get help with the purchase of an instrument through the Assisted Instrument Purchase Scheme, basically you get it VAT free because the school can claim back the VAT on it. Most music shops participate, online and high street.
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by

My OH is a private guitar teacher and charges 12.50 euros for half an hour I think it is, unless theyre in a group and it goes down to 10 euros.

£17 seems really expensive, especially for beginners too!

Blimey, £34 an hour seems very pricey indeed!! I'd expect Noel Gallagher to be giving the lessons for that!!!

Been a long time since I had guitar lessons, so maybe that is the going rate? If it is, then I'm in the wrong job!!!
I didnt know Noel Gallgher could play guitar. I would suggest Brian May.
