I registered at the dentist last week and was filling in the form. But seemingly I am not entitled to Free Dental treatment or prescriptions or nothing as I dont get WTC.
Surely I must be able to get help from someone. This is ALL the income I get -
CTC - £45.43 pw
INC BEN - £186.20 every 2 wks
CB - £75.20 monthly
I struggle as it is without having to pay for the prescriptions etc I need due to being off work
Is this right?

Hello,
You may still be entitled to help with dental / prescription charges on the grounds of low income.
This should be the link for you, that will have the scheme details.
I would apply first, and it should take a couple of weeks.

Good luck,

It's worth buying a prepayment card if you have a more than 2 prescriptions a month.
Don't you get any help with rent and Council Tax?0 -
Do you not claim IS with the IB?
If you do you should qualify for an NHS Exemption Card.
If not you should apply for help via the NHS Low Income Scheme. If you qualify for help through this scheme they will send you an HC2 certificate which is your proof of exemption. You would need to apply for the HC2 on an HC1 form which you can get from the local Jobcentre Plus or by calling 08456 10 11 12.0 -

Don't you have to be on a means tested benefit to be eligible for this?0 -
You should be entitled to free prescription, dentist etc as i was on exactly the same as you (NHS Exemption Card). This was through the CTC. I got the card through the post and did not need to apply for it. Maybe speak to CTC.
Also, i would advise you to see if you are entitled to income support aswell as incapacity benefit as a 'top-up' as i have just found out i should have been claiming it!! I also get DLA.
Hope this helps!0 -

Yeah I used to get HB but it wasnt covering all my rent and up till last month I was having to pay £140 per month towards it, but now they have the Local Housing Allowance which is brilliant. Get all the rent paid now. I think I have some countil tax to pay but the decision aint through for that yet.

I tried it a while ago but was on WTC then. Never bothered since then as the girl in CAB was sorting out what I was entitled to, but she never mentioned this. Maybe I'll give the Benefits Agency a call anyway, nothing to lose. Thank you
When I went to the dentist she said CTC doesnt count. But yeah I'll give them a call. I've been off work now 3 yrs next month after a knee operation which went wrong. Applied for DLA 3 times, No 3 times too. So given up even considering applying again. But defo gonna fine out about IS, thankslukieboy96 wrote: »You should be entitled to free prescription, dentist etc as i was on exactly the same as you (NHS Exemption Card). This was through the CTC.
