I've had a check & i have no records of how this started. Is this crucial to when i formulate my letter to attempt a refund from Egg ... once assumes that opening letter is important to achieve this? any templates out there to help me?"onwards & upwards"0 -
No, find out the information first. Otherwise if you say, for example, "your salesperson lied to me on the phone" and then it turns out you bought it on the internet, you are going to find it hard to later change your argument, and they will say you obviously can't remember what happened or you are a liar...
Egg have recently been fined by the FSA for phone sales of credit card PPI (=CRP) between 2005 and 2007 and so they are very much on the back foot at the moment:

In my humble opinion this isn't the only period or method of PPI sale which will later turn out to have been well dodgy.
I recently received an exceptionally blunt and rude letter from Egg in which they refused to respond to my queries about their internet sales of PPI (in fairness they had already supplied a certain amount of information, which I was challenging). This will result in a complaint to the Financial Ombudsman, followed by a court claim if that fails.0 -

I notice that I am paying for "Credit Card Repayment Protector" every month on my credit card statement. I understand from my research on the internet that this is an insurance policy. I do not believe that I ever requested this or agreed to pay it. Please explain to me why this charge is added to my statement every month.
Or something.0 -
still no joy from egg ... still chasing a refund"onwards & upwards"0

Hi there
In regards of reclaiming PPI there is a link to help you through this:
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance
I would write to reclaim if you feel you were mis sold.
They have 8 weeks to respond in full, another letter maybe required if not successful first time round, or until you exhaust their complaint procedures.
In the final letter they should inform you of other ways this can be investigated, such as the Financial ombudsman for example.
On the link above you will find some useful info on PPI mis selling, if any of those reasons apply to you then add them in the letter.
Post by recorded delivery.
If you require you agreement for this, write to them to request a copy, you should receive this within 12 days of request, also enclose a cover payment of postal order or cheque payment, post by recorded delivery.
However, if you require further paperwork/documents, you can sent them a Subject Access Request (SAR) there is a template letter for this on the thread, they have 40 days to comply, they should send all the info they have on you going back as far as 6 years, there is a higher charge for this of £10 postal order or cheque payment - again post by recorded delivery.
Good luck and if you require any further help, please post up.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
